I've been making small batches for friends and co-workers with wonderful reviews. Now it's time to kick it up a notch. The inspiration for NORTHMADE is driven by the memory and stories of great men. Men that have impacted our experiences and our lives. Men who braved the elements to find their way. Men who picked up their tools and built their country. Men who stepped up to take on the impossible.
Men who stood watch so others wouldn’t have to. Men who chose to lead, rather than be led. Our story leapt off the page of an old family cookbook, where the family’s age old soap recipe still sits to this day. Originally made from Great-Grandma's mixture of wood ash and kitchen fat drippings. That recipe became the starting point for this journey. Our soap is handcrafted in small batches to ensure care and detail, using traditional Hot and Cold Process Soap making methods. The process involves adding lye to oils and butters. That combination leads to a natural reaction known as saponification, a method used by humanity for thousands of years. The end result is soap...real soap. We use only high-quality plant-sourced organic oils and natural botanicals. No harsh detergents, preservatives, or artificial fillers are used. We use carefully chosen, natural ingredients, including activated charcoal, elemental clays, grains, herbs, spices and other natural ingredients to compliment our bars. After each batch of soap is hand-poured and cut, it is allowed to cure for 5-8 weeks. This process leaves behind a gentler, harder, longer-lasting bar that is perfect for daily use while remaining environmentally friendly.
