Take a Look at These Gains!!!
It’s never been about “testing”. It’s about creating the most significant meaningful gains so the athlete can perform on the ice.
For those not working in the industry, you might not realize just how hard it is to build a game changing off ice program. When athletes have been working on strength and conditioning for 5+ years and they are already in incredible shape, it’s no walk in the park to help them level up their game.
A lot goes into the development and delivery of our Off Season Hockey Program (more than we can ever fit into an Instagram post). Here are 5 key factors we’ve identified as essential for off season training programs:
1.Auditing past programs… we study the results from past years.
- Which stimulii produced desired outcomes?
- Where were we able to make gains?
- Where did we see less progress?
- How can we move the needle even more?
2. We implement best practices informed by recent and validated research (not by looking to trendy gym hacks or flashy reels).
3. Creating a culture of excellence and competitiveness, where athletes are driven to be the best they can be daily, and where athletes encourage and challenge one other.
4. We have a detailed athlete intake process to begin the summer where we discuss their goals, take an injury history, screen their movement, and capture baseline objective measures on speed, power, strength, and stability. Then we ACT on this data through targeted and individualized prescription when needed.
5. We focus on movement quality and building athletic qualities that make a difference on the ice.
Best of luck to all of our off season hockey athletes.
