Looking for something to do? Join our Puzzle Chain! 🧩

Found in the Library, 3rd floor Mezzanine, and all around Orchard Walk Retirement Residence in Greely, ON.

Recently, a team of residents completed a mystery puzzle from the 1912 Titanic Shipwreck. The mystery? No one knew what the puzzle was a picture of! You can find it displayed in our 2nd floor Library and thank you to Bruce and Gary for all their hard work on this project. 😀

🔸Today is National Truth and Reconciliation Day at Orchard Walk. 🔸

The day honors the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process, so Orchard Walk is proud to host a Group Chat and History Lesson at 3pm in Tony's Cafe for all residents and family members.

We will learn about the residential school system here in Canada, honor those who have been affected, and discuss ways for reconciliation and allow our Indigenous residents to speak their truth and share their stories with us.

Halloween is right around the corner! BUT first, we have lots of other activities taking place this month...

October 7th - Giddy up and Go Ponies are back with an outdoor petting zoo! Starting at 2pm on the patio, weather permitting.

October 10th - Anna’s Travelling Gift Shoppe will be here from 10am-2pm in our Lobby

October 9th - Dr. Andrew Frank will be here to do a presentation on Dementia. 3rd floor Mezzanine at 2:30pm

October 15th- The Council on Aging will be here for a presentation, starting at 2pm on the 3rd floor Mezzanine.

October 17th - Isabelle Skalski, our ward 20 councilor, will be here for a Town Hall. Bring your questions or feedback for her. 2pm on the 3rd floor Mezzanine.

October 24th - Seniors Protection Pendants will be here for a product showcase. 2pm on the 3rd floor Mezzanine.

October 31st - is Halloween! Our Halloween Party starts at 2pm on the 3rd floor Mezzanine.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we invite all residents and staff to wear Pink on Fridays in October (except Oct 31st, we will dress up in costumes for Halloween instead) to remember those who have had breast cancer

We celebrate autumn with a Seasonal Photo Booth (complete with lights, and a fall backdrop), Interactive Question Wall (What are you thankful for?) and harvest themed decorations around the home.
