The Heartfulness (Sahaj Marg) approach offers a simple remedy:
morning meditation that centers us before we engage with the world;
evening cleaning that releases the impressions accumulated through the day’s interactions; and
bedtime prayer that gently re orients the heart toward its Source. These practices create a vertical axis, and from this axis, our horizontal connections begin to transform.

The deeper we go within ourselves, the closer we come to others. On the surface, there is only a crowd; in the depths, we discover our true self.

Most of us are experts at postponing — we delay exercise, meditation, financial planning, and so many important things. But what if we chose to postpone anger instead? Even a brief pause can change everything.

As the Talmud beautifully says, “The talk of the child is the talk of the elders at home.” Children absorb what they see and hear. Choosing calm over conflict, especially in front of them, is a quiet gift that shapes their world.

Each Heartfulness practice has its purpose,
and together they dovetail into a complete whole 🌿
If you meditate without cleaning,
you may remain burdened with heaviness 🧘‍♀️
If you clean without meditating,
you will have a clean vessel
but lack focus on both the journey and the destination 🌊
And if you practise meditation and cleaning without prayer,
the practice becomes dry,
without the flow of love and communion 💛🙏
Practising them at appropriate times during the day
brings balance and depth to the system 🌸

Swami Vivekananda once said, “Character is the sum total of one’s thoughts, which depend partly upon one’s training and partly upon the surroundings in which one moves.”

We can mindfully redirect our thoughts when we notice a disturbance, but many aspects of our surroundings affect us subconsciously; we are simply not aware of them. Therefore, our level of awareness matters. And the more we practise meditation, the more our awareness and consciousness expand.

Morning hours are best suited for meditation, as starting your day with meditation helps set the right tone for the rest of the day. Additionally, the body’s energy flow is inward during the early morning hours, and meditation itself is an inward journey. Meditating in the early morning means moving in harmony with nature’s currents, making it easier to slip into a deep meditative state.

The peaceful state of mind that comes with meditation helps you approach the rest of your day with greater ease and clarity.
