Childhood trauma often teaches us to hide parts of ourselves just to survive. As adults, this can look like staying hypervigilant, avoiding vulnerability, or shrinking who we are to feel accepted. But healing, especially through therapy, helps us unlearn these survival habits. To those who were raised with separated parents, feeling like a guest at either parent's house can leave you with a lingering sense of rootlessness, as though you never truly belonged anywhere. This can carry into adulthood, showing up as difficulty feeling secure in relationships or at home within yourself.

Healing starts with acknowledging the impact of those early experiences. Create spaces—both physical and emotional—where you feel truly at ease.
