It’s time to talk about Reverse Warrior, or Viparita Virabhadrasana.

This pose shares a similar stance to Warrior I and incorporates a slight heart-opening side bend or optional back bend. First, take the stance with one foot in a lunge position. Anchor the outside edge of the back foot, engage glutes and hamstrings, and extend the palm, reaching overhead. Keep front knee over the ankle and sink deeper into the hips.

Considering adding a meditation practice to your daily routine? Meditation has myriad benefits and is an excellent addition to any yoga journey.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE:

️Take a seat — make sure it is a comfortable one
️Pick a time limit — five minutes is a good start
Breathe naturally — focus your thoughts on your breath
️Notice your thoughts — attention wanders; be kind to yourself and return to your breath

Hey, , let’s explore Butterfly Pose. Also known as Cobbler’s Pose, it is a sitting pose intended to encourage flexibility and is a common beginner pose.

Ready to give it a try? Sit with legs extended, bend knees, and bring heels toward the body, letting them fall to the side while pressing soles of feet together. Bring heels as close to the body as possible and elongate the spine. Breathe and hold.

Benefits of the pose:

- Calms the mind
- Improves circulation and flexibility
- Stretches hips, groin, knees, and inner thighs

Mountain Pose (or Tadasana) is a lesson in alignment and focus.

A foundational standing pose, it is often used to transition from one pose to another. To begin, stand tall with feet parallel and as close together as possible. Press heels and toes into the floor, engage quads, and rotate thighs slightly inward. Allow arms to hang naturally, palms facing forward, and keep neck long. 🏔️🏔️🏔️

Let’s take a closer look at a favourite: Crow Pose or Bakasana.

Try it! Get into a deep yoga squat and plant your palms flat on the ground, shoulder-width apart, elbows pulled in near the sides of your body. Transition onto the balls of your feet, lifting your butt into the air and placing knees high up backs of your arms near your armpits. Shift your weight forward towards your fingertips and see if you can float your toes up into the air, keeping your gaze directed slightly ahead of your mat.

This is a more advanced pose and — with our small class size and one-on-one support — our studio is the perfect place to challenge yourself.
