How do French skeletons say hello? Bonejour! 😅💀

This Halloween season, make sure you are taking care of the most important skeleton — YOURS!

Your pharmacist at Goodhealth Pharmasave has some tips to share with you on how to keep your skeleton healthy:

💪 Vitamin D! An important vitamin that our bodies need to absorb calcium, the major building block of bone. Always make sure you are getting your daily dose!

💪 Eat a diet rich in calcium. Such foods include milk, yogurt, cheese, dark-green vegetables and salmon, among others!

💪 Drink alcohol in moderation, and follow recommended guidelines for the consumption of alcoholic beverages.

💪 Avoid to***co products, and they can increase the risk of bone loss and fractures.

💪 Consult your pharmacist! They can recommend a supplement that meets your needs.

Did you know? The two of the most common childhood parasites in Canadian schools are head lice and pinworms? 🐞😱 Here are our tips on how to deal with head lice :

❶ Check your child's hair weekly, looking for signs of lice or their nits.
❷ Whether or not your child is affected, don't allow them to share a brush, comb, hairband, or hat with their friends.
❸ If your child has lice, remove as many bugs and eggs as you can manually, and talk to your pharmacist about treatment products.

👨‍⚕️ 𝗥𝗼𝗯'𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 | It's officially back-to-school season, and your Goodhealth Pharmasave pharmacist, Rob, has some advice to help you keep your child safe if they have food allergies! 🥜

A food allergy occurs when your immune system reacts to a certain food as though it were harmful and something to be fought off. Here are 5 tips you can share with your child to keep them safe:

➜ Make sure your child is always carrying their epinephrine auto-injector and/or other required medication they need in case of a reaction.
➜ Read all labels carefully, and watch out for the words "May contain..." as there is still a risk of cross-contamination.
➜ Educate your child on their health condition and the seriousness of the situation.
➜ Inform your child's educators, daycare supervisors, and other responsible adults about your child's allergies.
➜ Make sure your child does not share his/her lunch or snacks with their peers. Same goes for utensils and all dishware that could be used.
