Major life transitions, like changing careers, moving to a new city, or stepping into retirement, can stir up more than excitement. They often awaken uncertainty, grief, and even a sense of identity loss.

It’s easy to underestimate how disorienting change can be. You might find yourself questioning your purpose, feeling untethered, or wondering who you are without the familiar routines and roles that once defined you.

From a therapist’s standpoint, these moments aren’t signs of failure, they’re invitations. Invitations to pause, reflect, and rebuild a new sense of self that feels authentic to where you are now.
