Au Canada, les dentistes suivent des guides de pratique qui veillent en priorité à la sûreté des patients et patientes. Conformément à ces guides, les dentistes doivent notamment restreindre au minimum l’utilisation d’opioïdes et privilégier d’autres options pour soulager la douleur, tels les médicaments non opioïdes, les anesthésiques locaux et d’autres traitements efficaces. Il s’agit de traiter la douleur sans causer de risques plus importants.

Une sensibilité, un mal, de l’inconfort ou une douleur persistante pourrait être le signe d’une infection, d’une carie ou de complications à la suite d’un traitement. Les dentistes ont la formation nécessaire pour évaluer une douleur et en trouver la cause. Alors, n’ignorez pas les signes.
