CNSA is recruiting research mentors, nurse researchers and faculty who can guide students through short-term projects, share their expertise, and help strengthen research engagement across Canada.

This is where you come in: please share the attached poster with faculty at your school, particularly those involved in research, graduate supervision, or who might know colleagues interested in mentoring nursing students. Feel free to forward it to research chairs, deans' offices or post it wherever it'll get visibility.

The more reach we get, the stronger the mentor pool will be for students across the country.

C'est ici que vous entrez en jeu : veuillez partager l'affiche ci-jointe avec le corps professoral de votre école, particulièrement les personnes impliquées en recherche, en supervision aux cycles supérieurs, ou celles qui pourraient connaître des collègues intéressé(e)s à mentorer des étudiant(e)s en sciences infirmières. Pour la Semaine nationale des soins infirmiers, on pense aux infirmier(ère)s derrière la recherche.

Une grande partie de ce qu'on fait en pratique, comment on évalue la douleur, comment on bâtit la confiance avec les patient(e)s, comment on aborde les familles et les communautés, repose sur le travail que les infirmier(ère)s ont elles-mêmes construit. Parfois publié, parfois vécu, souvent les deux.

Faites défiler pour en rencontrer quelques-un(e)s. Il y en a beaucoup d'autres.

This National Nursing Week, we're thinking about the nurses behind the research.

So much of what we do in practice, how we assess pain, how we build trust with patients, how we approach families and communities, sits on work that nurses themselves built. Sometimes published, sometimes lived, often both.

Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

For nursing students, this day is a reminder of the kind of practice we're choosing to build. 2SLGBTQIA+ patients consistently report being misgendered, dismissed, or assumed away by the people meant to care for them. That gap is closed one assessment, one chart note, one conversation at a time.

Ask people their pronouns. Use them when the patient isn't in the room. Document accurately. Speak up when a colleague doesn't. Learn the specific health needs of trans, nonbinary, and q***r patients instead of waiting until you have one in front of you.

We're the nurses they'll meet next. Let's be ready.

Aujourd'hui, c'est la Journée internationale contre l'homophobie, la transphobie et la biphobie.

Pour les étudiant(e)s en sciences infirmières, cette journée nous rappelle le type de pratique qu'on choisit de bâtir. Les patient(e)s 2ELGBTQIA+ rapportent régulièrement être mal genré(e)s, ignoré(e)s ou présumé(e)s hétérosexuel(le)s par les personnes mêmes qui devraient en prendre soin. Cet écart se referme une évaluation, une note au dossier, une conversation à la fois.

Demandez aux gens leurs pronoms. Utilisez-les quand le ou la patient(e) n'est pas dans la chambre. Documentez avec exactitude. Intervenez quand un(e) collègue ne le fait pas. Apprenez les besoins de santé spécifiques des personnes trans, non binaires et q***r au lieu d'attendre d'en avoir une devant vous.

C'est nous, les infirmier(ère)s qu'ils et elles vont rencontrer demain. Soyons prêt(e)s.

On this International Nurses Day, the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association (CNSA) celebrates the nurses, educators, and healthcare leaders whose compassion, advocacy, and leadership continue to transform healthcare across Canada and around the world.

As future nurses, we recognize that the future of healthcare is global and interconnected. Over the past year, CNSA has worked to strengthen international collaboration through the development of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with nursing student organizations across the world, including our first international MOU with Asociación Mexicana de Estudiantes de Enfermería A.C. (AMEENF), while also continuing to build strong collaborative relationships with our neighbours at the National Student Nurses’ Association and through our involvement with the International Council of Nurses Student and Early Career Nurses (SECN) Alliance.

Together, we are building connections that strengthen student advocacy, cultural exchange, and the future of nursing across borders. This International Nurses Day, we call on governments and healthcare leaders to continue investing in nurses and nursing students through safe learning environments, mental health supports, and strong public healthcare systems.
