πŸ’– Midlife Hormones & Heart Health πŸ’–

πŸ” Exploring how hormonal shifts impact our heart health during midlife! πŸ«€ Here are three key insights:

1️⃣ Lipid Levels: Hormonal changes, like declining estrogen & testosterone, can mess with our lipid profiles. Think ↑ LDL (bad) cholesterol & ↓ HDL (good) cholesterol, upping our risk for heart issues!

2️⃣ Blood Vessels: Estrogen & testosterone aren't just about mood swings! They're vital for keeping our blood vessels healthy. But as levels drop, our vessels struggle, leading to issues like high blood pressure and artery troubles.

3️⃣ Metabolism Matters: Hormonal shifts can throw our metabolism for a loop. Less estrogen & testosterone might mean more belly fat and insulin resistance, both big players in heart disease.

πŸ’ͺ Taking charge of our heart health means understanding these changes and making smart choices. From lifestyle tweaks to regular checkups, let's keep our hearts happy and healthy through midlife and beyond! πŸ’–

February is Heart Health Month.

πŸ’– Let's talk about a crucial aspect of women's health that often flies under the radar – cholesterol levels during menopause. 🚺✨

For many amazing women who've sailed through life with normal cholesterol readings, things can take a turn during menopause. πŸ”„ The drop in estrogen levels is a game-changer, leading to a rise in total cholesterol, particularly the notorious "bad" LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. πŸ“ˆπŸš«

Why does this matter? πŸ€” Because, over time, elevated cholesterol can up the ante on heart risks. πŸ’” Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of postmenopausal women's mortality, and it's time we shine a light on it. 🌟

As your wellness advocate, I make it a point to assess hormone levels AND request cholesterol checks for my perimenopausal patients. πŸ©ΊπŸ“Š Knowledge is power, and early detection empowers us to take charge of our health journey! 🌈✨

So, here's to embracing change, staying informed, and thriving in every chapter of our lives. 🌺πŸ’ͺ Drop a 🌈 if you're ready to prioritize your heart health and overall well-being! πŸ™Œ

Embracing Bone Health with Progesterone! 🦴πŸ’ͺ

Did you know that Progesterone is a key player in maintaining robust, healthy bones? πŸ€” Alongside estrogens and various hormones/nutrients, Progesterone has a unique role in promoting bone health.

🌱 Unlike estrogens, Progesterone takes the spotlight by stimulating osteoblasts – the superhero cells that lay down new bone! πŸ’«βœ¨ With adequate Progesterone levels, your bones can fully enjoy the benefits of stimulated new bone growth.

Let's prioritize our bone health and give a shoutout to Progesterone for its incredible contribution! 🌈✨

Do you know what's going on with your symptoms? I can help you figure it out. I say that I am the Naturopathic Dr. House. Have you seen that show? Dr. House is an amazing Diagnostician. I'm pretty much the same, without his drug problem, and I like people, unlike him.
I do a deep dive into your lab work, explore your symptoms and have the AHA moments that others haven't discovered for you. From there, I create a plan to move you forward, eliminate symptoms and allow you to feel the best that you can.
Let's chat...Let's make a plan.

How are you feeling today? Did you know that stress can affect you in interesting ways? It can even shut down activity of a pathway in the brain that controls the reproductive system. This can disrupt the connection between your brain and your ovaries and cause delayed or absent ovulation and irregular or missed periods.

Stress doesn’t have to be β€œall in your head”. A stress could be that your back hurts. Stress could be that you were out late at a fun party last night. Stress could be digestive upset, or food intolerances. Stress is anything that your body and mind have to adapt to. Stress affects us more when it is chronic and the stress response is ongoing.
Some small things to do in the day to help:
πŸ‘‰Sit by the window or outside in the morning when you have your coffee or tea.
πŸ‘‰Take a few long deep breaths before you go into that meeting.
πŸ‘‰Discover if you have any food intolerances.
πŸ‘‰If you are too busy, say β€œNo” more often.
πŸ‘‰Explore some meditation apps. My fave is Insight Timer.

What do you like to do when you are feeling stressed?
