STRESS // boy do we all have it nowadays.

A recent randomized controlled trial showed that magnesium and vitamin B6 supplementation helped to lower anxiety and depression scores due to stress after a month of intake. PMID: 33864354

REDUCING FOOD BASED TOXIN LOAD // The thing is, we can't really avoid toxins - exposure will always be there. Why you should care? Toxins create stress on the body because they are challenging for the body to excrete.⠀

What we do have control over is knowing WHERE and WHEN toxic exposure is higher and make informed choices to lower it.... whenever possible⠀

Here is an example...⠀

I learned back in naturopathic med school - that fats accumulate the most toxins (in our bodies and in animal based food products). What has alot of fat in a typical diet? Dairy, especially butter. [Swipe to 2nd pic to see comparison of which dairy products contain the most toxins]⠀

So even on a student budget, I started making the conscious effort to use grass fed, organic butter instead of conventional butter, whenever possible. If it was the one thing that I would spend more money on - it was this. Due to the potential of highest concentration of toxins in this one food. The same would go for (clarified butter)⠀

Ice cream is also up there on the list, but we don't tend to consume ice cream on a regular basis so exposure is less ⠀

If you are someone avoiding dairy, other ways to reduce toxic load also involves avoiding wheat (gluten), trans fats, artificial ingredients and refined sugar foods.⠀
