🖥️✨ Our Radiology Service Just Got a Makeover! ✨🖥️

We’re excited to share that our radiology department at OAESH now features a brand-new, state-of-the-art ultrasound machine! This upgrade means significantly improved image quality and ability for advance techniques, leading to better diagnostics and recommendations for our patients.

Led by Dr. Raj Multani, our board-certified radiologist (ACVR), along with his dedicated team which includes Quincy Vail who is a registered veterinary technician and Kyle, our amazing radiology assistant—our radiology service is committed to advancing care for our patients through precision and collaboration.

🔍 Did you know? Our radiology team is happy to accept outpatient ultrasound referrals via your veterinarian with readily available appointment times! If you think your pet could benefit from an ultrasound, please discuss with your veterinarian regarding a referral.

We have noticed a number of comments on lack of availability to see exotic pets, especially rabbits. Unfortunately many young vets graduating get little or no experience in this specialty anymore and they do not feel equipped to see them. We currently only have two vets who are seeing them, however Ottawa Veterinary Hospital has a number of doctors who will now.

Case of the week ❤️🩺

Meet Flora, a 5 years old standard poodle, who came to our Emergency department over the weekend for signs of “retching” and for having a distended abdomen. She was quickly diagnosed with a Gastric Dilation and Volvulus (GDV) or “Bloat”.
GDV is a life threatening disorder, which can quickly result in death if surgery is not pursued.

Deep chested dog such as herself, are most at risk. Luckily, her owners recognized the signs of bloat early and rushed her in.
Surgery was performed to return the stomach to its normal position and to tack it to the body wall (a gastropexy) to help prevent future GDV.

She has done very well post-op!!! We wish Flora a continued seamless recovery. 🫶🏼
