TIME SENSITIVE (survey below needs to be completed by September 29th)
Clients of body+mind…we need your help. There is a proposal to add bike lanes on Gladstone Ave from Preston to the East (drawings at end of the survey linked below). We LOVE bike lanes; however, they are planning to remove ALL parking on both sides of Gladstone from Bronson to Preston.
The small businesses on Gladstone will suffer immensely. The side streets are being offered as an alternative option, but as we have seen in the winter, snow clearing will not make this easy. We are also concerned about the inevitable conflict that will arise between delivery trucks, taxis, and Ubers, which will be forced to use the bike lane to drop people and packages off.
Anyone with mobility issues or sports injuries will have a very hard time getting here for their care.
We have been given very little notice, nor any consideration from our councillor. There are solutions that can have shared lanes, slower speeds, and decreased truck traffic on Gladstone Ave that will make it safer and accessible to all modes of transportation.
