Are you experiencing brain fog, memory slips, or mental fatigue?

Dr Emma Pollon-MacLeod shares that these symptoms are common, especially during menopause, and they’re not always a cause for concern.

In fact, over 50% of women going through menopause report cognitive challenges that can feel alarmingly similar to early signs of Alzheimer’s, but they’re not the same.

Menopause can mimic symptoms such as:
✅ Difficulty focusing
✅ Memory lapses
✅ Slower thinking
✅ Trouble multitasking

But there are key differences to know:

✅ Menopausal brain changes are usually temporary and reversible
✅ Alzheimer’s involves progressive and irreversible cognitive decline

The good news? There are ways to support your brain through this transition:

Move your body regularly, eat a Mediterranean-style diet, take a good quality DHA-focused fish oil, and keep an eye on your blood pressure.

You don’t need to change everything at once, take it one step at a time. With the right support, these symptoms often ease, and your brain can adapt.

If you’re looking for guidance, we’re here to help.

Dr Yousuf Siddiqui is shedding light on 4 lesser-known but clinically significant factors that could be draining your testosterone.

While common culprits like stress, poor sleep, weight gain, and nutrient depletion play a major role, some men continue to struggle, even after addressing those areas. That’s where a deeper investigation becomes essential.

Here are 4 often-overlooked causes to consider:

✅ Subclinical Hypothyroidism or Low Free T3
✅ Elevated Prolactin (Hyperprolactinemia)
✅ Liver Dysfunction & Estrogen Overload
✅ Undiagnosed Sleep Apnea

Low testosterone is rarely caused by just one issue. That’s why a functional and integrative approach is so important in getting to the root cause.

Learn more about these lesser-known factors that may be quietly contributing to your symptoms: https://nutrichem.com/blog/what-else-is-draining-your-testosterone-4-lesser-known-but-clinically-significant-causes/

✅ Bone health

About 95% of your testosterone is produced in the Leydig cells of your testicles, and it plays a role in almost every aspect of your health and performance.

So, when should you start testing your testosterone levels? Right now.

Tracking your baseline early helps us see exactly when levels start to decline and when symptoms begin, so we can take action and optimize your health.

Dr. Emma Pollon-MacLeod, ND explains the role of progesterone, a key hormone produced in the second half of your menstrual cycle by the corpus luteum.

In a healthy cycle, progesterone levels naturally rise. But if you're not ovulating regularly, or at all, your body may struggle to produce it. This is especially important during perimenopause, when ovulation can become inconsistent.

Emma shares the difference between:

✅ Progestins (synthetic hormones found in birth control and IUDs, used for contraception, endometrial protection, and to stop or diminish bleeding)

✅ Progesterone (specifically, micronized progesterone, more frequently used in hormone replacement therapy)

Progesterone can be incredibly helpful during perimenopause. Not only is it critical for endometrial protection, but it also may be effective for other areas that can be impacted by perimenopause such as sleep and body temperature regulation.

Unlike estrogen, which has several supplement options, progesterone is more limited. That’s where compounded formulas come in, allowing for customized doses tailored to your unique needs.

Think your cycle’s still “normal”? You could still be in the early stages of perimenopause.

Dr. Emma Pollon-MacLeod recently joined Dr. Sam Hetz on the LifespanMD™ podcast to talk about the subtle (but important) changes that often mark the start of this hormonal transition.

Even with a regular period, you might start to notice:

✅ Heavier flow
✅ Presence of clots
✅ Spotting before the period

And in the days leading up to your period, PMS symptoms may feel more intense than usual:

✅ Mood swings
✅ Sleep disruptions
✅ Heightened emotional sensitivity

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and you’re not imagining it. These are common early signs of perimenopause.

Dr. Emma Pollon-MacLeod dives into the common narrative around menopause and why it needs to change.

The textbook version of menopause, where a hormonally balanced woman suddenly experiences hot flashes and night sweats, is far from the full story.

In reality, menopause is anything but simple.

Hormones are only part of the picture. Most women don’t walk into a clinic asking for “perimenopause support”, they come in feeling like their world is falling apart.

Oversimplifying these experiences has real consequences. Too often, women are handed birth control, IUDs, sleeping pills, or antidepressants without truly feeling seen or heard. While these tools can help, what’s often missing is validation.

These symptoms aren’t in your head, they’re real, they’re physical, and they deserve care.

It’s time to rewrite the menopause narrative: less blame, more curiosity. Let’s listen, learn, and empower women through every phase.

If you think you may be dealing with perimenopause symptoms, you’re not alone, we’re here to help.

Dr Emma Pollon-MacLeod shares everything you need to know about estrogen, more specifically, estradiol.

Estradiol is a key hormone that plays a major role in your menstrual cycle, bone health, cardiovascular system, and even your mood.

Your estrogen levels naturally rise and fall throughout your cycle, which can lead to common symptoms like PMS, mood swings, brain fog, and anxiety.

If you’ve taken birth control, you’ve been using a strong synthetic form of estrogen that provides steady hormone levels throughout the month.

There’s also bioidentical estrogen, often used in hormone therapy. It’s given in small, precise doses, especially helpful during perimenopause, when your estrogen levels begin to dip and symptoms can be more intense.

Want to learn more about which type of estrogen might be right for you? Come talk to us at NutriChem, we’re here to help you feel your best!

Our CEO, Emma Pollon-MacLeod, highlights an important point: many women are being prescribed medications for sleep issues or depression, when in reality, these symptoms are often rooted in hormonal changes.

Back then, talking about menopause and hormones was quite taboo. She asks Linda Pollon, one of NutriChem’s original founders: “How did you start to approach the topic so that women would feel empowered, not anxious, when talking about menopause?”

Her answer: Leading with education.

By hosting seminars, both large and small, NutriChem created a space where women could finally get real answers about their symptoms. Inviting trusted experts to share their knowledge helped foster an environment where women felt safe, supported, and truly heard.
