Most people don’t struggle because they lack encouragement.
They struggle because their mind can hold on to one painful comment more tightly than dozens of kind ones.
You may hear:
“You’re doing well.”
“I’m proud of you.”
“You’re capable.”
“You’ve come so far.”
But one thought like:
“I’m not good enough”
can suddenly feel louder than everything else.
This is often connected to negativity bias — the brain’s tendency to give more attention to criticism, fear, or perceived rejection than to positive feedback. It does this because it is trying to protect you, not because the negative thought is always true.
In therapy, we help you notice these patterns, challenge the thoughts that keep you stuck, and build a more balanced way of seeing yourself.
You are not defined by the harshest thought in your mind.
You are allowed to believe the good, too.
