Balance is something we all recognize when we feel it. Your body moves with ease. Your mind feels clear and focused. Your emotions flow without overwhelm. You feel healthy, present, and truly alive.

But balance isn’t something we achieve once and hold forever. It’s dynamic — more like riding a bike. Sometimes we glide smoothly. Sometimes we wobble. And sometimes we fall. With awareness, care, and the right support, we learn how to return to our centre and keep moving forward.

✨ Meet Sonya, a Registered Massage Therapist since 2012, Professional Life Coach, and certified First Aid/CPR Trainer.

Sonya’s work is rooted in a holistic approach that honours the connection between body, mind, and spirit. Through therapeutic massage, supportive coaching conversations, and practical life-saving skills training, she helps people reconnect with their natural rhythm and sense of balance.

Featured Artist of the Week: Stéphane Ippersiel 📸🧘‍♂️

Ottawa-based photographer and yoga teacher Stéphane Ippersiel brings over three decades of visual storytelling experience—following a career leading communications teams for the Government of Canada—into a deeply personal exploration of the human spirit through portraiture.

Since 2012, Stéphane has been creating powerful portraits of yogis, revealing not just form, but essence. Inspired by legends like Annie Leibovitz, Herb Ritts, Richard Avedon, Mark Seliger, and Albert Watson, his style nods to bold 1980s commercial photography—flash-forward, intentional, unapologetic.

Through his celebrated series Yoginis 2014–2024 and BIPOC Yogis of Ottawa, Stéphane captures the shapes, tension, and grace of the human body in motion—advocating for yoga as a lifelong wellness practice and a vehicle for visibility and belonging.

A student at School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa since 2018 and a founding member of Altern Studio, his lens also explores architecture and environmental art—where massive, industrial forms meet serene landscapes in poetic contrast.

PranaShanti Yoga Centre is Ottawa’s premiere Yoga Centre. PranaShanti is a full-service yoga, health, and wellness centre conveniently located in the Hintonburg area of Ottawa just minutes from downtown and numerous public transportation stops. In our custom designed, our dedicated team of teachers and therapists offer a wide variety of yoga classes in four spacious yoga studios and a specially designed offering of therapies in our Consultation spaces. Our soothing atmosphere and inspiring setting will help you cultivate a deep inner state of body centered restful awareness that will benefit you in every aspect of your life. The Center is open seven days a week and offers a flexible schedule with classes in multiple styles and disciplines for you to choose from.

Our intention at PranaShanti is to create an oasis in the city of Ottawa for the practice of yoga in a diversity of methods. This is a space where all are welcome: here you will heal and strengthen your body, calm your mind, and rejuvenate your spirit.
