From Myles Ahead, Advancing Child & Youth Mental Health and MindUP, The Teen Brain is a powerful short film that sheds light on what’s happening in the adolescent brain during this critical stage of development. As teens undergo significant structural and emotional changes, they are more vulnerable to outside influences, especially in today’s digital world, where social media can heavily shape thoughts, behaviours, and self-perception.

This research-informed video highlights the emotional intelligence, adaptability, and resilience of teens while offering practical tools to help young people navigate adolescence, build healthy relationships with technology, and grow into confident individuals.

Mental health isn’t just about what we are dealing with individually — it’s also about how connected we feel to one another.

This May 4–10, CMHA’s Mental Health Week is calling on all of us to Come Together, Canada. Through small, everyday actions of connection, we can strengthen mental health, reduce loneliness, and build healthier communities. Because connection strengthens mental health.

CMHA National

According to CMHA National, workplace loneliness can negatively affect mental wellbeing and overall job performance leading to an increase in serious work and life-related stressors. Empowering each other and building strong relationships helps us strengthen social connections at our workplace. At Cappelli & Associates we prioritize the theme of Connection at our workplace. We ensure to always take care of ourselves and check in with each other. We create balance by providing compassionate care, continuous learning, and lightening the load by doing activities not related to our day to day requirements or skill set (like taking a cooking class)!

These workplace tool kits provide insightful guides to promoting connection in the workplace and suggest great activities you can do in your workplace.

Did you know that millions of Canadians are feeling lonely?

This Mental Health Week, we are joining CMHA in choosing Connection and encouraging others to do the same.

CMHA National

According to CMHA National, social connection, especially a strong parent-child attachment and a healthy environment at home can shield the negative effects of loneliness.

At Cappelli & Associates our clinicians are trained in attachment-based approaches to parenting that aim to strengthen the parent-child relationship. Attachment is a safety-net for the healthy development of children/young people. This bond allows a young person to feel secure as they develop, learn new things, and build relationships. Building and maintaining connection at home is therefore a powerful tool against the effects of loneliness.

Check out this fact sheet that provides the Science Behind Social Connection and learn how you can implement ways to limit stress and uplift wellbeing.

Mental Health Week 2026 is all about connection. This May 4th–10th, let’s Come Together, Canada — because connection strengthens mental health.

This year’s theme of Connection truly resonates with our team of therapists, psychologists and psychometrists at C&A as we know first hand through our work with young people and families that many struggle with feelings of loneliness and isolation. CMHA Nationall reports that youth are the loneliest of all age groups in Canada. The lack of meaningful connection directly contributes to poor mental health, academic challenges and of course issues and difficulties navigating social relationships. This Fact Sheet provides insight and helpful suggestions on how to address loneliness in our young people.
