East Ottawa Midwives - Sages-femmes de l'est d'Ottawa

East Ottawa Midwives - Sages-femmes de l'est d'Ottawa We are a group of midwives dedicated to providing comprehensive, holistic and evidence based care during pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period.

Our catchment area encompasses east of the Vanier Parkway to Hawkesbury, north of the 417 to the Ottawa River. We are located in Gloucester, at 5310 Canotek Rd Unit 202. We offer home, birth centre and hospital births and have admitting privileges at the Montfort Hospital. We strive to provide bilingual services to Ottawa's growing population. We are founded on respect for pregnancy and birth as a

normal, healthy process and a profound social, emotional and cultural event in a pregnant person's life. A midwife is a regulated health care professional who provides primary care to a pregnant person during their pregnancy, labour and birth, and cares for them and their babies during the first 6 weeks postpartum. The quality care that our midwives provide, is about much more than delivering babies. Midwives counsel, monitor and support the health of the pregnant person from early in the pregnancy, through birth and the post-partum period, which we consider is an essential part of promoting a healthy, stress free pregnancy. CURRENT MIDWIVES: Betty-Anne Daviss, Camelia Hamdaoui, Cecilia Jennings, Emmanuelle Dennie-Filion, Genevieve Gagnon (on leave), Grace Lévesque, Marie-Eve Lord, Martha Scroggie, Meghann Leonard, Melanie Pagé and Melanie Street (on leave)

Happy International day of the Midwife to our midwives & colleagues all around the world!

Bonne journée internationale de la sage-femme à nos sages-femmes et collègues à travers le monde entier !

May 5th International day of the midwife:

Midwifery is rooted in trust, respect, informed choice, and continuity of care. On this International Day of the Midwife, we celebrate not just the clinical expertise of midwives—but their advocacy, presence, and power in every setting, including here in Ottawa.

This year’s theme, “Midwives: Critical in Every Crisis,” reminds us that midwives are essential in emergencies and everyday life. From supporting home births to responding with calm and care during global pandemics, midwives are frontline responders, protectors of reproductive rights, and champions of community wellness.

Midwifery care is a model that uplifts families, cultures, and health systems. Whether it’s in a birthing centre, home, or a hospital, midwives ensure that every birth story is centered in dignity and choice.

We honour all midwives—past, present, and future—for walking beside families, no matter what.
