CADTH is an independent, not-for-profit organization responsible for providing health care decision-makers with objective evidence to help make informed decisions about the optimal use of health technologies, including:
diagnostic tests
medical, dental, and surgical devices and procedures.
In addition to evidence, we also provide advice, recommendations, and tools.
Delivering Value to Canadians
Created in 1989 by Canada’s federal, provincial, and territorial governments, CADTH was born from the idea that Canada needs a coordinated approach to assessing health technologies. The result was an organization that harnesses Canadian expertise from every region and produces evidence-informed solutions that benefit patients in jurisdictions across the country.
Over the years, CADTH has grown to be a key resource to the health care system. Among other things, we:
help health care decision-makers keep pace with technological change
review and make recommendations on new and existing health technologies
undertake comprehensive Health Technology Assessments that leverage the full depth and power of today’s evidence-rich environment
examine practices, processes, and protocols to provide a better understanding of the current landscape in health care
scan the horizon to give health care leaders a glimpse of what the future might bring.

Patients and clinicians are among the most important beneficiaries of our work, and we strive to engage them in meaningful and constructive ways through our committees and panels and our input and feedback opportunities.
