📌 The Canadian Institute of Planners applauds yesterday’s announcement of “A Force of Nature: Canada’s Strategy to Protect Nature” from the Prime Minister.

With an investment of $3.8 billion, Canada’s new nature strategy will protect and restore critical habitats, ensure industrial strategies complement conservation efforts, and mobilize new capital for nature.

Planning influences where we live, how our economies grow, and how we interact with the natural world. Planners are at the forefront of some of the most pressing climate challenges, and they are the forward-thinkers who provide the ideas and solutions needed for communities to thrive.

📌 L'Institut canadien des urbanistes salue l'annonce faite hier par le premier ministre concernant « Une force de la nature : la stratégie du Canada pour protéger la nature ».

Grâce à un investissement de 3,8 milliards de dollars, la nouvelle stratégie pour la nature du Canada permettra de protéger et de restaurer des habitats essentiels, de veiller à ce que les stratégies industrielles viennent en complément des efforts de conservation, et de mobiliser de nouveaux capitaux en faveur de la nature.

Canada has recently crossed the milestone of a 40-million population. As we navigate the implications of this expansion, communities are facing heightened demands for additional housing, commercial lands, a broader array of transportation options, public amenities and services, as well as social infrastructure.

We are seeking articles that look at:

👉 How growth is currently financed
👉 Challenges faced by existing growth-planning and financing practices
👉 Alternative models or reforms could more effectively align planning objectives with fiscal realities
