SDG 11 reflects the very principles at the heart of planning in Canada:

👉 Safe, affordable, and inclusive housing
👉 Sustainable and accessible transportation systems
👉 Equitable, resilient, and healthy communities
👉 Climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction

It's the perfect time for Canadian planners to showcase the work they are doing to advance SDG 11 and to reaffirm the importance of its renewal.

This year's theme, "Better Places for a Better Canada: Leveraging the Local," united attendees with a vision of stronger, more resilient communities and a determination to collaborate on building a stronger national economy.

"The overwhelming message from the Summit was clear," says Canadian Institute of Planners CEO, Deborah Morrison. "We need to focus on place-based solutions. Every community is different, and the only way to unlock the creativity and ingenuity of its citizens is to fully engage them in planning processes."
