WHAT WE DO

We provide pollen forecasts to help you and those you love manage environmental allergies. Aerobiology Research Laboratories analyzes pollen and spore samples to create forecasts for allergy sufferers as seen on the Weather Network, Johnson and Johnson and now through our new personalized subscription program providing you with the exact info you want and need to improve your quality o

f life. HOW WE DO IT

Aerobiology Research Laboratories (ARL) gathers pollen and spore samples daily using the innovative ARL aeroallergen rotation impaction samplers from 30 monitoring stations across Canada. Samples are collected by associates in the field and shipped to Aerobiology Research Laboratories, where they are analyzed by our highly trained laboratory staff. WHY WE DO IT

Over 9 million Canadians suffer from seasonal allergies and close to 1 million pets (mainly dogs). The counts, or total number of particles per cubic meter of air sampled for each identified particle type, are stored in an ever-growing data warehouse. This database allows us to query and summarize current and historical allergen levels in a flexible and efficient manner, supporting our research and forecasting operations as well as the data needs of our clients. WHY IT MATTERS

This data provides valuable information in development of medications, education and knowing the forecast for pollen levels can help you regulate outdoor activities allowing you to have more control over your quality of life. You can see the pollen forecast on The Weather Network, Johnson and Johnson and now you can get a personalized daily pollen forecast with our subscription program.

Albertans with pollen allergies, this is your warning ☣️

A short but very intense pollen season is unfolding across Alberta this year.

We’re seeing high to very high pollen levels in both Edmonton and Calgary, with poplar and birch currently dominating the air. Oak is ramping up quickly, while alder, cedar, elm, maple, fruit trees, and pine are all adding to a layered mix of allergens.

The spike is being driven by a delayed start to spring due to cold March temperatures, followed by multiple tree species releasing pollen at the same time. That overlap is what’s pushing exposure higher than usual.

If you’re allergic, symptoms may feel stronger this year simply because so many pollen types are peaking together.

What helps right now:
👉 wraparound sunglasses outdoors
👉 mask up on high days
👉 wash clothes after being outside
👉 keep pets off furniture after outdoor time
👉 check the pollen forecast on the Allergy Sufferers App

Save this and share it with someone who “just has a cold”

This spring gave Saskatchewan allergy sufferers a false sense of security..

After weeks of cold weather, snow, and frozen ground, tree pollen season didn’t disappear. It got delayed.

Now ash, birch, poplar, maple, alder, and other trees are blooming at the same time, creating a shorter but much more intense allergy season across Saskatchewan.

If your allergies suddenly exploded this week, you’re not imagining it.

The peak is expected through mid-May, with fast-rising pollen levels hitting many parts of the province all at once. According to our data, pollen levels in Canada have more than doubled over the last 35 years.

The surprising part?

Despite this intense season, Saskatoon was still ranked one of the best Canadian cities for people with tree allergies.

Why do allergies feel SO much worse in some Canadian cities? 🤧🍃

It’s not just about one high pollen day.

Canada’s Allergy Capitals are ranked using real airborne pollen and fungal spore monitoring data collected across the country by Aerobiology Research Laboratories.

Cities with:
• longer pollen seasons
• more overlapping allergens
• more high or very high pollen days
• dense vegetation
• and weather conditions that keep pollen airborne

can create a much heavier allergy burden for residents.

Tree pollen, grass pollen, ragweed, and fungal spores can all contribute to seasonal allergy symptoms depending on where you live in Canada.

The full 2026 Allergy Capitals Report is now available on https://aerobiology.ca/2026-allergy-capitals/ and linked in our bio. 📊🇨🇦

“Why is my kid ALWAYS sick this time of year?”

If it keeps coming back…same time every year…
It might not be a cold.

In Canada, pollen can trigger months of symptoms on children.

Most people do not realize this, but your city could be the reason your spring allergies are so bad.

Tree pollen is the #1 trigger of spring allergy symptoms across Canada, affecting millions of people every year.
And most people have no idea just how different it is from city to city.

Spring in Canada is not just flowers and sunshine, it’s pollen season. From birch and maple to oak and poplar, airborne pollen travels long distances and peaks between late March and June. Some cities get hit with long, intense allergy seasons, while others are noticeably milder.

That is why we ranked the BEST and WORST cities in Canada using real airborne pollen data and seasonal exposure risk.

👀 You are probably not going to guess which cities ended up at the bottom.
