What is Parkinson's disease?
🧠Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition caused by the loss of dopamine producing cells in the brain. Dopamine is the chemical messenger that helps control smooth, coordinated movement. As dopamine levels fall, movement becomes harder to initiate and control. This is why tremors, stiffness, slowness of movement, and balance problems are hallmark symptoms.But Parkinson's is also much more than a movement disorder — it affects sleep, mood, cognition, voice, and gut health too.
