I wonder if there's confusion between noise cancelling and white noise. Listening to white noise creates neural noise in the brain, making it harder to focus on speech. Check out "Of Sound Mind" by Nina Kraus, she talks about this in her (really interesting) book!

Zoey, a lovely PhD candidate in Audiology at the University of Ottawa, is looking for participants for a study in Auditory Processing Disorders. If your child is between 8-12 years old, has been identified with auditory skill deficits (APD), is right-handed and does not have a diagnosis of ADHD, please contact Zoey to participate in her study at the university. The child will receive a gift, a snack and $25 for their 2.5 to 3.5 hour participation.
Please reach out to Zoey at zahma083@uottawa.ca for more details. Thanks for considering helping to advance our knowledge of APD!
