In preparation of my 50th birthday, I started listening to the Rolling Stone top 500 Album list. Daily since Jan 2, I've listened to a different album. It's allowed me to appreciate the all time greats all over again. Marvin Gaye, the Beach Boys, Nirvana, The Clash, Patti Smith, Bob Dylan and a personal favourite Bruce Springsteen

Last night was Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures. I forgot how much this album helped create a foundation of my deep relationship with music. I was almost 14 (well after the 1979 release) and my Uncle was playing it in his car. My ears were in heaven then and I felt it again listening in my living room at 49, albeit with extra understanding of the world.

All this to say - go listen to the stuff that opened your soul!

Tonight, after my weekly dinner with my boys I'll be busy with the one and only Nina Simone's Wild Is the Wind.

Week one in my new gig as a Strategic Operations Business Analyst in Regional Operations and Compliance (ROC) was great. My work Advising the Council for Indigenous Peoples came with me to the new gig too.

Still feels weird that I've left Federal Programs after 10+ years, even if it is just for a short stint within same Branch (COPD) at Labour Program. So thankful I get to stay connected to a cool project that is just launching there.

So, today I am celebrating the successes of the week with a Cuba Libre - made with El Dorado Rum and heavy on the Angostura aromatic bitters because they make everything better. Good thing alcohol was not on my Lent list of no nos.
