Small frustrations can feel overwhelming for some children with ADHD.

One reason may relate to how certain brain areas involved in emotional regulation function, including the anterior cingulate cortex.

In neuro-acupuncture, specific scalp zones correspond to regions of the brain associated with emotional regulation and nervous system balance.

Still dealing with symptoms long after a head injury?

A man in his 50s came for supportive care after years of head and neck pain following several car accidents.

He also struggled with poor sleep, sensitivity to light and noise, trouble focusing, and ongoing stress challenges many people report after a concussion.

After trying different treatments without lasting relief, he added scalp acupuncture as a gentle, non-drug approach focused on supporting the nervous system.

Over time, he shared that he noticed:

✅ Less head and neck pain
✅ Better, more restful sleep
✅ Clearer thinking
✅ Reduced anxiety and sensory overwhelm

This is one person’s experience, but it shows how nervous-system–focused care may play a supportive role for people living with long-lasting post-concussion symptoms.

❤️‍🩹 Let's talk about something that doesn't get enough attention: traumatic brain injuries.

Did you know that over 20 MILLION people experience a TBI every year?

That's like the entire population of Florida getting a brain injury annually.

We recently dove deep into the latest global research, and the statistics are eye-opening:

🔴 20.84 million new cases in 2021
🔴 37.93 million people living with long-term TBI effects
🔴 Cases have grown by 22.6% since 1990

But here's what really matters
Most TBIs happen from simple everyday situations:
❗️Slipping on icy stairs (especially our Canadian winters! 🇨🇦)
❗️Car accidents during rush hour
❗️Sports injuries on the hockey rink
❗️Workplace accidents

The good news?

Most of these are PREVENTABLE.

👉 Wearing a helmet while cycling can reduce severe brain injury risk by 85%
👉 Installing grab bars in bathrooms (especially for seniors)
👉 Proper concussion protocols in youth sports
👉 Simple home safety checks can prevent devastating falls
And if injury does occur? Recovery is possible.

We created an interactive article showing all the latest statistics, where TBIs happen most, who's affected, and what causes them.

Have you or a loved one dealt with a TBI?

What helped most in recovery?

Let's share knowledge and support each other💙

After a sudden shoulder injury, an older adult experienced severe pain, very limited arm movement, and poor sleep.

Imaging they shared showed a complete rotator cuff tendon tear, and they chose to avoid another surgery.

A conservative plan using neuro-acupuncture with gentle microcurrent stimulation was introduced to support comfort and gradual movement.

Over time, the patient reported:

✅ Less nighttime discomfort
✅ Improved ability to lift the arm
✅ Better daily function and confidence

This case highlights how working with the nervous system’s role in pain and movement may support people seeking non-invasive options.

Ever notice how your shoulder feels worse at night…
even though the day wasn’t that physical?

After a rotator cuff injury, many people feel more tightness, heaviness, or sensitivity in the evening, not right after activity.
It’s not always about “overusing” the shoulder.

Sometimes it’s about how your nervous system handles a full day of input:
movement, posture, stress, and fatigue.

By the end of the day, the system gets tired too.

And sensitive areas can start to feel… louder.

In our clinic, we look at shoulder recovery not only from a muscle and joint perspective, but also from how the nervous system is regulating sensory load -> especially later in the day.

🎥 In this video, we explain why evening shoulder discomfort happens and what may help the system settle.

Shoulder injury… but your neck feels tight? 🤔

Many people recovering from a rotator cuff injury notice something unexpected:
the tension isn’t only in the shoulder.

It can show up in the neck, shoulder blade, or upper back -> especially when lifting the arm.

It may feel like the neck is “joining the movement.”

The shoulder doesn’t work alone. The body moves as a connected system and sometimes other areas step in quietly during recovery.

Neuro-acupuncture looks at this from a nervous system perspective.

Gentle, precise stimulation is used to interact with sensory pathways involved in movement patterns and tension responses.

This approach focuses on how the body coordinates regions together — not just one spot at a time.

Sometimes, when the system is supported differently, the experience of movement can begin to change.

Have you noticed neck or upper back tension during shoulder recovery?

🎥 Next video: why fatigue can make these sensations louder — even without a new injury.

Shoulder pain can linger after a rotator cuff injury, even when scans look fine and rehab is on track.

Why?

Because recovery isn’t only about strength.

The shoulder is rich in sensory receptors that constantly communicate with the nervous system.

After injury, those signals can stay “protective,” creating stiffness or discomfort even when movement is possible.

Neuro-acupuncture may be used alongside rehabilitation to gently support how sensory information is processed, which may help improve comfort and movement awareness.

Post-surgical recovery often involves complex nervous system responses.

Following open-heart surgery, an individual developed severe bilateral foot discomfort consistent with peripheral neuropathy–type symptoms, making walking and daily movement difficult.

A conservative neuro-acupuncture approach was used alongside medical care.

After 6 sessions, the patient reported:
✅ Reduced foot discomfort
✅ Improved tolerance for standing and walking
✅ Increased overall strength and daily confidence

This case highlights how neuro-acupuncture may support functional tolerance during post-surgical recovery.

Here’s to 15 years and to many more years of service, growth, and dedication ahead.

And yes… I’m raising this watermelon in celebration 🍉😃

Fifteen years ago, my dream became a reality.

After many years working in the ICU… after traveling the world, learning, and practicing in different clinics… after dedicating a large part of my life to studying Traditional Chinese Medicine and neuro-acupuncture…

the doors of my own clinic finally opened.

Since then, I’ve grown immensely as a professionalб but one thing has never changed:

my commitment to helping people.

Thank you to everyone who inspires me every single day.

Your trust helps me learn, grow, and come to work with full dedication.

I placed my first needle when I was 16, and that same year I opened my first books on herbal medicine.

Now I am 53 and I continue this work with the same dedication.

I’ve been walking this path my whole life with the support of incredible Teachers, all those who have walked through the doors of my clinic, everyone life has brought into my path, and all those I have learned from.

Each of you helped shape me as a practitioner.

Thank you for your time, your wisdom, and your belief in me.

There is so much more ahead.

The doors of my clinic are always open for anyone seeking support.

Thank you all for your trust.

With warmth,
Denis Grounin
