Last Thursday SJA FD hosted a "meet and greet" to bring together representatives from various NCR emergency response agencies so we could learn more about each other before a crisis pulls us together. Thanks to Councillor David Hill - Councillor - Ward 3 Barrhaven West for coming and starting our introductions and to attendees from City of Ottawa Public Safety Service, Ottawa Paramedics, Red Cross Canada, Team Rubicon, Ottawa Valley Search and Rescue, Samaritan's Purse, Civil Youth Protection Canada, Ottawa MedVents, and our colleagues from SJA National Office and ASJ Quebec! It was a great opportunity to meet and learn more about each other!

Thanks also to our CS volunteers that evening who helped set up static displays of our ERU equipment and stayed to mingle with attendees after their training!

And as always, thanks to our Therapy Dogs (and their humans) who were a special part of the evening!

Our ERU (Emergency Response Unit) volunteers are out on this frosty weekend on a huge simulation exercise being held with units across Canada! Working with our government and other NGO kindred agencies in demonstration scenarios prepares us to be at best performance when our community is in real need!

SJA FD (Ottawa) provides so much to the city of Ottawa. Besides training thousands of people each year in first aid, over 150 volunteers provide medical first response at events across the city. Our therapy dog teams provide emotional support to hundreds of people annually. The volunteer Emergency Response Unit stands ready to be called up for major incidents locally and beyond.
