SJA FD (Ottawa) provides so much to the city of Ottawa. Besides training thousands of people each year in first aid, over 150 volunteers provide medical first response at events across the city. Our therapy dog teams provide emotional support to hundreds of people annually. The volunteer Emergency Response Unit stands ready to be called up for major incidents locally and beyond. Last evening (Wed, Nov. 19) SJA FD and the City of Ottawa held a reception for the formal signing of the joint Service Level Agreement, the first of its kind in Ontario and perhaps all of Canada. This arrangement ensures a mechanism and terms are in place to allow SJA FD to expedite support to city emergency services in Ottawa if a major incident occurred.

SJA FD is honoured to serve the citizens of Ottawa through this endeavour and all our local activities.

This week we were happy to host members of the local Shriners to our Morrison office. This generous organization has provided funds to add another AED to our inventory to support our Community Services team!

Thanks to our volunteers who showed their respect for veterans and serving members of Canada's Forces by providing medical support at the National Remembrance Day ceremony downtown and at a smaller service at the Vanier Legion. Our Council Commissioner laid the St. John Ambulance wreath with our national CEO.
