With support from the Ottawa Lead Agency, Crossroads and CHEO co-facilitate the Autism and Mental Health Community of Practice for Ottawa. Guided by Consulting Psychologist Dr. Jonathan Weiss (York University), this group creates a space for learning and sharing about autism and mental health, and has helped increase capacity across local mental health agencies to better support neurodivergent children and youth.
If you are part of Ottawa Lead Agency services and want to learn more, please contact Isabelle MacNider at imacnider@crossroadschildren.ca

Happy New Year!
January offers children and families a chance to reset after a busy holiday season.
Small routines like steady sleep schedules, calm moments, and time to connect, help build emotional stability and support children’s wellbeing.
What routines help your family start the year feeling grounded?

The holidays can be hard, and no one has to face them alone.
If your child needs someone to talk to over the holidays, One Stop Talk (OST) is here to listen.
Crossroads is proud to partner with OST and Crossroads therapists are part of the team offering free, virtual sessions to children, youth, and families across Ontario.
Reaching out can make a difference.
A reminder that our offices will be closed December 25/26, and January 1st.

The Holidays Aren’t Always Easy - And That’s Okay.

For families with young children, this season can bring both excitement and overwhelm. A few gentle tips:
Keep routines simple. Young children thrive on predictability.
Talk about feelings. It’s okay for little ones (and grown-ups!) to feel big emotions.
Take breaks. Quiet time or a short walk can help everyone recharge.
Focus on small moments of connection.

From all of us at Crossroads, we’re wishing you peace, kindness, and comfort this holiday season.
