Amy from Tea and Toast was amazing! We ended up in a situation where we needed to find a care home for my father. We had a short time to find something that would be a good fit for him. Amy took the searching and stress off my plate at a time when I had a lot to stress about. We really appreciate this service and all the help Amy gave us. Being a caregiver is stressful and can make you feel alone. Tea and Toast helps you with some of that stress and supports you in your decision making. I highly recommend them.

Memory loss does not automatically mean a person needs a memory care floor in retirement living. In fact, cognitive services can be received in other levels of care in many retirement homes. Secured memory care floors are typically reserved for those who are a wander risk or who are exit seeking.

At the end of the day, a retirement home has the final say of what level of care someone requires, and how that will be categorized in their home. We can help determine how your family member may fit into the levels of care in retirement living, so you know what to expect throughout the process of finding a retirement home.

Rachel brings a wealth of experience from her work in the social services sector, where she supported vulnerable families during some of the most critical times of their lives. Her background in direct support, program leadership, and public education is matched by her personal caregiving journey as the eldest child and grandchild in her family.

After experiencing a life-changing head injury in 2016, Rachel leaned into yoga, meditation, and mindfulness—tools that not only aided her recovery but deepened her commitment to helping others. Today, she continues to expand her training as a yoga therapist, weaving together calm, focus, and compassion in her work.

With her unique blend of professional expertise, lived experience, and mindful practices, Rachel is here to support families with patience, knowledge, and care. We are thrilled to have her join Tea & Toast! 💐

“You don’t know what you don’t know”. Looking back over the almost last 9 months, we really didn’t know anything. Not about dementia, caregiving, when and who to ask for help. Nothing. We were drowning!! Then we stumbled onto Tea and Toast. In less than 4 weeks our upside down world has righted itself. Jean has been amazing. She came and talked to my MIL and got her to agree to seeing a retirement home. She found 2 homes that would be suitable and came with us to view them. Helped us to see what would be best for my MIL. We have found a place, and look forward to moving her in and visiting, becoming her son and daughter in law again, making the most of a relationship that is partly forgotten. Without hesitation I would recommend Tea and Toast to anyone on their Eldercare journey!!

Caregiving for a family member changes the dynamics of the relationship. This family wanted a return to son and daughter in law again, and to find a safe environment where their parent could receive the care she needed. 🩵

One of the barriers in senior living today is a gap in generational knowledge.

Retirement homes, as we know them, have only been around since the 1960s. And since then, the industry has evolved dramatically.

✨ What once felt institutional is now centered on community, lifestyle, and choice.
✨ But because these changes are relatively recent, the memories many of us carry — of what it was like for our grandparents or great-grandparents — don’t always reflect the reality of senior living today.

This is why education is so important. The more we understand the changes, the better equipped we are to make informed, confident decisions for ourselves and our loved ones. 💙 That's why we are so passionate about education and eldercare planning.
