Happy National Auntie Day!

Today, we honour the Aunties who carry love, sacred knowledge, and cultural strength within our Indigenous communities.

Aunties are more than family — they are caregivers, protectors, teachers, and ceremonial guides. They pass down language, stories, and traditions. They help raise our children, support our spirits, and walk with us through every stage of life.

With strength, humour, and heart, our Aunties are central to the well-being of our families and Nations.

We lift you up today and every day. Wela’lin, thank you, for all that you do and all that you are.

Great News for Indigenous Midwifery in Ontario!
Ontario is investing up to $250,000 in the Onkwehón:we Midwives Collective in Akwesasne, increasing their funding from $50,000 to $200,000 for 2025-2026.

This means not only more midwifery services, but the continuation of care that respects and revitalizes traditions that have existed long before provincial health systems ever arrived.

This is part of Ontario's $1 million commitment to Indigenous Midwifery Programs across the province.

Nettle Balls🌿

When I had my midwife visit last week, she made these for me!
Now that I’m 6 months and June is flying up on us, we’re preparing my womb, uterus, body and mind to bring our babygirl earth side.
Being that my body has carried so much trauma from my sons birth and I have healing to do this time around (more so mentally), we’re making sure my body is ready.

This is the new edition to my preparation!

Benefits : preventative for urinary tract infections, iron deficiency anemia, hemorrhoids, leg cramps and reduces risk of postpartum hemorrhage.

RECIPE
1 cup of ground nettles
2 cups of ground oats
1/2 cup of ground flax seeds
1/4 cup of raw honey
1/2 cup of peanut or almond butter
1/4 cup of water
Pinch of salt (if you so choose)
Cacao or coconut flakes are optional

My son reminds me in the mornings that my midwife told me to eat them EVER 👏🏽 DAY! Lol 😍 he’s such a great helper.
