Ottawa Vision Therapy Vision therapy is a series of customizable exercises prescribed by an Optometrist or Vision Therapist

Vision therapy helps patients learn and improve specific visual skills. For example, the accuracy of eye movements, eye control when focusing, and coordination of both eyes. We can train the eyes with various exercises through personalized Vision Therapy programs. These programs will help with conditions such as crossed eyes, lazy eye and double vision. Patients may experience headaches when readi

ng and words may appear blurry. The may be struggling at school and have trouble seeing the blackboard and/or not be able to focus on one activity for longer than a few minutes. Vision Therapy will help improve all of these issues or make them disappear completely. At Ottawa Vision Therapy, we are a team of two Optometrists, Dr. Kirsten North and Dr. Estelle Saunders, and our Vision Therapist Rebecca Arbuckle. Together we will personalize a plan that addresses each patient's specific goals and vision needs.

From blurry vision to trouble focusing and eye strain, these issues can linger long after the initial injury.
That’s where vision therapy comes in.
It's a structured program of eye-brain exercises designed to retrain the visual system—boosting skills like:
🔹 Eye tracking
🔹 Focus flexibility
🔹 Visual processing speed
🔹 Hand-eye coordination

Whether it’s reading, screen use, or balance—vision impacts everything. Post-concussion vision therapy can help patients recover faster, function better, and feel more like themselves again.
If you or someone you know is still struggling after a concussion, it’s time to get the eyes checked—👓 it could change everything.

Little Eyes, Big Outdoors!
Happy International Skipping Day! Today is the perfect reminder that a simple skip, hop, and jump outside can do wonders—not just for fun, but for your child’s vision too.
Spending just 2 hours a day outdoors has been shown to help prevent myopia (nearsightedness) in children. Natural light and active play are powerful protectors for growing eyes! Skipping also helps build balance and improve coordination, rhythm and timing, both for kidsa and adults.
So grab a skipping rope, head to the park, and give those little eyes (and legs!) the workout they need.
Healthy vision starts with sunshine and smiles!

Tag a parent who should join the skip squad today!
