Tension in your hips has a direct influence on your seat and your ability to follow the horse’s movement effectively. Your core muscles have a harder time firing when there is restriction in your hips.

This can show up as:

🔹a hard time sitting the trot
🔹bouncing in the trot
🔹being left behind in the movement
🔹ineffective half halts
🔹lower back pain
🔹hard time keeping your position straight

Do you experience any of these when you ride?

Neuroplasticity is the ability to create new neural pathways in our brain. Different movement allows us to access different parts of us and allows us to stay adaptable.

Here are some awesome equestrian accounts that teach other modalities:

I’ve had a lot of conversations lately about mental health and performance with some people in the yoga and equestrian industries.

I think it’s an aspect of our sport that isn’t talked about enough. My hope is to bring yoga into the community in a way that is accessible, digestible and with practical application.

Wellness is a journey and my hope is that my practices support you along the way in and out of the saddle.

thank you for the inspiration on this one

✅ strengthen and lengthen your hip flexors
✅ alleviate back pain
✅ improve your seat

Definitely try it before you ride. Full class is on my site.

Yesterday I asked in my stories what it means to live your yoga off the mat.

⭐️ Living your yoga when the practice leaves the mat and becomes the way you move through your life.

Yoga was never meant to be only poses. It’s a philosophy and way of life just as much as it is a physical practice.

Here are 3 ways you can apply this:

✅ Grooming as a form of meditation
✅ Noticing your breath and your horse’s
✅ Practicing patience over reaction when you ride

Living your yoga means bringing the same calm you practice on the mat into your relationship with your horse.

Enjoy the time with your ponies.

I see this often in my studio classes.

A lot of the times this is due to a lack of strength in the upper body.

Couple things to remember:

✅ As you build strength, lower your knees. There’s nothing wrong with that! Proper form is more important for the health of your shoulders.

✅ Chaturanga/low plank is amazing for building core strength. If you’re dropping your belly and pressing your elbows out, you’re not using your core effectively.

✅ This pose mirrors your upper body position when you ride. The more you can build it out of the saddle, the easier it will be in the saddle.

✅ The more you learn to engage your core in this pose, the better your half halts will be 🤯

Hope this helps! Drop any yoga or rider position questions below!

Shoulder tension affects your riding position.

It can lead you to rounding your shoulders, and having a hard time using your upper body effectively.

Myofascial work can
✅ release tension
✅ improve range of motion
✅ increased circulation

This type of class is included in my online platform. You’ll find a range of a variety of styles and duration of classes. Try it free for a week.
