Meet Daniel Smith, one of our 2025 scholarship recipients and future N.B. doctor!

Hometown: Moncton, New Brunswick
Attending: Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick (DMNB), Class of 2026

Daniel is a fourth-year medical student attending Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick. He holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of New Brunswick. Upon graduation he hopes to begin a residency in Orthopedics or Internal Medicine.

Daniel carries a passion for research as an Associate Editor for the Dalhousie Medical Journal and as a collaborator with the Canada East Spine Centre on a pilot project that aims to reduce surgical wait times and improve access to care. He is also an active member of the Saint John community as a volunteer dog walker with ElderDog Canada and a volunteer head coach with the East Saint John Minor Association Basketball League.

“Often, people are encouraged to leave New Brunswick for “better healthcare”, but right here in this very province, my family and I were able to receive tremendous care. I want to practice in New Brunswick and make a difference in the province – the communities of my home – like those in my life were able to do in a compassionate and skilled manner.”

We're proud to support the next generation of healthcare providers in New Brunswick!

Your gifts empower students like Daniel with much-needed tuition relief and have a lasting impact on the patients and communities that benefit from their care in the decades to come. For more information or to make a donation, visit https://loom.ly/73-MBPY.

Over the past few weeks, our team and Grants Committee have reviewed hundreds of scholarship applications. One thing stands out: nearly every applicant speaks with gratitude about the family, friends, mentors, and communities that have lifted them up.

These support networks shape careers - and lives - that will touch thousands of patients.

When you donate, you become part of that story. You show the next generation of New Brunswick healthcare providers that their province believes in them and wants them to stay and thrive here, at home.

It’s a privilege to be part of so many journeys. Join us. Make an impact.
