LANCASTER AVENUE HOUSE & HERITAGE RAMBLE – Tuesday, June 4, 7:15 pm
Castle Fallsview Funeral Home is proud to sponsor the first WALK 'N TALK WITH DAVID GOSS of the 2024 summer season. David will kick off his 45th season with a stroll along Lancaster Avenue exploring our beautiful old neighbourhood. Beginning at the funeral home and taking in Wolastoq Park, David will share some of the history of the building that is now the temporary home of the NB Museum. Other highlights will include Earle House, Lewin Park and Tilton’s Corner. We’ll return to Castle where David will discuss the 1949 landslide, the construction of the Saint John Throughway and the origins of the Cushing and Ready properties. Light refreshments will be provided following the walk.
This walk is approximately 2 km and covers relatively easy terrain but walkers participate at their own risk. The rain date is the following evening. In case of inclement weather call 506-672-8601 after 6 pm on walk day for a message on any postponement.
David Goss is one of Saint John’s best known storytellers. The author, researcher, folklorist and tour guide is a walking encyclopedia of the history, the myths and the people of our city. If you haven’t walked with David, you don’t know what you’re missing.
