We are searching for experienced Optician for our Uptown Optometry practice.
Consider joining our caring and dedicated office team in Saint John's top rated optometry practice. Brown and Associates has a long history of excellent patient care in a large practice located on Germain Street in Uptown Saint John. The practice has 5 doctors and a team of 14 employees.
If you have an outgoing personality and enjoy working within a positive work environment, you may be a perfect fit!
Experienced Opticians are a critical part of the patient experience, helping patients discover fashionable eyeglass frames and recommending high quality branded lenses. At Brown and Associates, you will be paired with a doctor each day allowing you to get a good feel for what kind of treatment the doctor is prescribing.
The successful candidate will also be able to pitch in and help the practice with the other practice tasks when it is busy.

Your main responsibilities will include:
*Working closely with our optometrists and teammates to provide excellent patient/customer care
*Educating patients on eye health and related issues
*Helping patients find fashionable optical frames and branded lenses
*Taking precise measurements and completing accurate ordering
*Properly adjust spectacles to ensure a custom fit
*Insurance billings

Strong communication skills and attention to detail are a must. An ideal candidate is self-motivated to grow and learn. Hourly pay starts at $24 per hour for a new optician and increases with experience. Benefits are available after a waiting period.

What are cataracts? Cataracts are cloudy areas that form on your eye's lens. Age-related cataracts are the most common type.
Symptoms: blurred & cloudy vision, difficulty driving at night, halos, glare & light sensitivity
Prevention: UV protection, healthy food choices & avoiding smoking.
Treatment: Cataract surgery.

$1,000 Opticians Choice Award! Nominate an NB optician who deserves to be recognized. Winner will receive a trophy and $1,000 to be presented at the OAC Education Event in Fredericton on Sept. 30, 2025. The recipient should be an optician who has made a significant contribution to opticianry in NB and nominated by a fellow optician. Both nominee and nominator must be in good standing, with a minimum of 5 years as a member. The Awards Committee will select one name from all nominations received, for final approval by the OANB Council. Nomination forms available through the OANB website member’s section under “News”. Submit complete forms to the OANB office. Nomination period: May 1 – July 31.
