You 🤝 adaptogenic herbs

Plants with the ability to help the central nervous system handle stress & recover from stressful situations are called adaptogens. They actually help build tolerance to stress overtime - honestly, plants are so cool 🥺

In a world where almost everyone seems stressed to the max on the daily, incorporating adaptogenic herbs can benefit many of us. I always believe in hunting down the root cause - but we need relief in the meantime!

🌱 mushroom - supports the adrenals (that release our stress hormones)
🌱 Ginseng - enhances immunity
🌱 Rhodiola - helps the nervous system
🌱 Bacopa - elevates mood
🌱 Cordyceps - supports stamina
🌱 Ashwagandha - calms the brain

You can find most of these in tincture, supplement, and tea forms. Always check with your doctor as certain adaptogens can conflict with medication.

For a good reason !

🌞 it’s the longevity nutrient responsible for building, repairing and maintaining tissue in the body
🌞 pairing protein with carbs can help lessen blood sugar spikes, keeping the whole body happy
🌞 low protein (overtime) can decrease muscle and bone tissue, increase sugar cravings, increase body fatigue, and increase hormonal imbalance

The daily recommendation for protein varies wildly on the internet 🙃 A good ballpark is 25-30g per meal and can be increased based on health goals and physical activity.

You can be both loud and contemplative.

You can be the boldest when facing conflict, AND you can be the one who retreats to her quiet space when it’s all too much.

So, how’s your 💩?

Let’s learn about fibre:

✨it helps “clean the pipes” by clearing out leftover residue in the intestines
✨ soluble fibre aids digestion and helps lower cholesterol, while insoluble fibre draws water to the stool to help things move smoothly
✨people who have low fibre eating habits tend to deal with gastrointestinal issues

The recommended daily fibre intake is about 25g for women and around 30g for men. Here’s a cheat sheet on how you can increase your intake during the day!

Cold plunging - yay or nay? 🤨

Studies show some promising things. Cold plunging can help with athletic recovery and provide relief for some with muscle pain 💪🏻

The shock to the system can also help manage stress response (stopping spiralling thoughts/panic in its tracks). Also, doing something unpleasant but beneficial can build mental resiliency 🧠 ❤️

However, like literally ALL THINGS, it’s not for everyone. It causes discomfort,and investing in a gym that offers cold plunging or buying a cold plunge tub can be $$$$.

My take:

- Try it, if you want! It may completely help you. It may not. You get to decide if it’s worth it.
- Dunking your face in a bowl of water with ice or turning the faucet to cold at the end of your shower can give you some cold plunge benefits. Way cheaper and less time consuming !

✨Easy? Not really. Necessary? Yep.✨

🤍 Understanding when you’re hungry, and doing something about it. A huge difficult part (for the former diet-chasing kind) is to understand when your body is hungry 🥵, and nourishing it! 🥩 🥗 🍟 Learning what hunger vs craving vs boredom vs upset is can be daunting, but oh so worth it🎉

🤍 Not obsessing over stats, knowing that they are just tools 🛠️ Calorie-counting apps, tracking macros, watches that keep tabs on your calorie burn, and scales 👏🏻 are 👏🏻 tools 👏🏻 not 👏🏻 rules. Some of these things may become the devil 😈 when you first ditch dieting, but that’s usually because you abused at least one of them before! Some will never go back ✌🏻while some will check them out occasionally without obsession - both are ok ✅

🤍 Forgiveness - in many different forms 🕊️ This is probably the most personal relationship to repair, and some things will come up! Perhaps it’s realizing a parent did a poor job at food education, or a partner made remarks about your body, or your friend 👯‍♀️ always peer-pressured you into the latest diet fad. You will also need to forgive yourself, too - that’s the kicker. But it’s how we carry on 🌿

Master the basics for optimal health 🤍

While protocols have their place (I literally create them for a living!), many times we want to jump into the extremes like

- eliminating 5 food groups
- taking 200 supplements
- incorporating 43 herbal teas and remedies

The reality is that this is an extremely expensive and rigorous step to take when the basics that CREATE a healthy environment are overlooked.

☀️ = natural vitamin D for bone health, hormone balance, and mood improvement, fresh air to clean your respiratory system

Mineralized💧 = balancing your electrolytes to support your thyroid, hydration to literally propel almost every function in the body

Circadian rhythm 🎶 = getting you to sleep and wake up properly, reduce anxiety symptoms, naturally balancing hormones and brain neurotransmitters

Whole foods 🥕 🍣 = higher in fibre for properly bowel motility, no additives that cause inflammation, micronutrients that aren’t destroyed during processing

The truth is that A LOT of problems can be addressed by mastering these basics. The other truth is that expensive supplements will only get you so far.
