Supporting someone with hearing loss?

Here are 3 things you can do:
1. Speak clearly, not louder – Shouting can distort words.
2. Reduce background noise – Turn off the TV or music during conversations.
3. Ask how they prefer to communicate – Some may prefer captions, text, or face-to-face.

Your support makes a world of difference. Tag someone who’s helped you or someone you love!

I graduated in the medical model of hearing aids being a class 2 medical device not a retail device. For this reason to advertise hearing aids as a retail product is foreign to me. I recently started with a client who had hesitated to look at hearing aids for years as they heard the cost was over $5000 an ear. Although some manufacturers do supply hearing aids within that range there are excellent high quality hearing aids for between $1600 - $1800/ear. These all have blue tooth capability and are rechargeable. Again I understand this is still a substantial investment in your health however I wanted to ensure people had the correct information. What is also a benefit is hearing aids are tax free as they are a medical device and can be claimed on your income tax. Have a great day.

: August wasn’t always the eighth month of the year.

In the old Roman calendar, August was called Sextilis, meaning “sixth” in Latin, because the year originally had just ten months! It wasn’t until around 700 BC, when January and February were added to the calendar, that August shifted into its now-familiar eighth spot.

A little bit of history, language, and calendar chaos. 😀

Morning, we finally have been able to sit out and listen to the birds. Hard to believe summer is almost at completion. Here at Sussex Audiological we are booking education sessions as it seems all manufactures release new product in the fall and spring. It is a nice time to see what improvements and new innovations they have to offer. Signia, Unitron and Oticon are still offering reduced pricing on there mid and high end products which has been a wonderful option to take advantage of. Better processing at a reduced cost is great for the client and the audiologist as much more satisfaction. Hoping for more rain as we desperately need it, but sunny skies for the balloon fiesta. !!

Your brain turns sound into meaning

It’s pure magic and science!

✨ Sound waves enter your ear.
✨ Your inner ear (like the incredible cochlea!) transforms vibrations into electrical signals.
✨ Those signals travel via your auditory nerve straight to your brain and suddenly, you’re hearing laughter, music, and voices that matter.

It’s a tiny, high-tech symphony happening every second. Let’s make sure your hearing system is in tune.

📅 Book your hearing test today!
