The stapes (also known as the stirrup bone) is the smallest bone in the human body, and it’s found inside your middle ear.
It measures just about 3 millimetres long, but it plays a huge role in how we hear. The stapes helps transmit sound vibrations from the eardrum to the inner ear, where those vibrations are translated into signals your brain can understand.

Without this tiny bone doing its job, our ability to hear clearly would be significantly reduced!
