🎉 Foot Health Awareness Month 🎉
This annual advocacy and educational campaign is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of foot care, mobility, and preventing (PREVENTABLE) conditions. Feet are often an overlooked area of health, and yet are the literal foundation each and everyday. Studies show that up to 75% of adults experience foot pain at some point in their lives, often limiting their daily activity. Regular monitoring helps detect issues early - which is especially critical for preventing complication in individuals with diabetes, neuropathy, immune impairment, and venous or arterial diseases.
Now, when you book in with our Foot Nurse, you’re getting more than nail trimming. During the Initial Assessment (whether you realize it or not), our Foot Nurse is assessing the way you walk into the office, the footwear you’re wearing, the socks (or lack of) you’re wearing, the way you stand, the way you mobilize to a sitting/standing position, the wear pattern on your shoes, the wear pattern on your socks, the wear pattern on your feet, the distribution of calluses, corns, cracks, the colour, condition and temperature of your skin and nails, AND SO MUCH MORE. This vital information helps guide the plan of care for each individual who comes into our office. Everyone is different, and everyone deserves a personalized plan. This helps our Foot Nurse provide the right care, educational resources, and referrals to higher levels of care, as needed.
Getting your nails trimmed is one little piece of the puzzle, but there is so much more that goes into nursing foot care. Our goal is not aesthetics. Our goal is not pedicures. Our goal is to help you get the most out of your feet, and keep you on them for a good long life-worth of thriving mobility and stability.
