It was a jam packed day today. Two of our gorgeous residents celebrated their birthdays today. 🎉🥳

One of our residents received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Bathgate Parish Church volunteers, who stayed and chatted with some of our residents.

Later the competitive streak kicked in with our residents and families playing prize bingo. Eyes down for the Bingo. 👀

Then we chilled with 1 2 1’s and with one of our residents who enjoys crime novels being read to her.

Today we kicked off with line dancing exercises to achy breaky heart. We had such a laugh. Mostly at my expense. 💃

Later one of our fabulous ladies was joined by her family to celebrate her birthday. 🎂 Then one of our brave ladies decided to brave the elements and head out for a stroll. 🚶‍♂️ Setting the world to right as we walked and talked.

Then the awe struck, Skye a four legged friend visited with family bringing smiles and oohs and ahs as she enjoyed the petting.

A lovely day.

Today at Meadowvale, we started off the morning with some exercise led by the handsome lads in kilts from Burns Gym, always a great way to get everyone moving and smiling!

Afterwards, we did some colouring on the “big iPad”, which our residents really enjoy. There’s something very relaxing about bringing those bright pictures to life.

One of our activities coordinators also hosted a wonderful (but somewhat impromptu) reminiscing session, showing how the Forth Rail Bridge was built between 1882 and 1890. This sparked great memories, with some residents recalling the construction of its “younger brother,” the Forth Road Bridge, from 1958 to 1964.

At lunchtime, a few residents headed to the conservatory to enjoy the beautiful winter scenery while staying cosy indoors with a warm cuppa.

Throughout the day we also spent some quality 1-to-1 time with our residents, always appreciated, always meaningful.

Another gentle and heartwarming day at Meadowvale.

A Nice Mix of Activities Here at Meadowvale Today!

We started the morning with some quizzes as part of our Men’s Club, which always sparks good conversation and a bit of friendly competition. Alongside that, we enjoyed some lovely 1-to-1 time with our residents throughout the morning and afternoon.

For both lunch and dinner, quite a few residents chose to relax in our conservatory, always a favourite spot for a peaceful change of scenery.

After lunch, we held our Smoothie Club to get at least some of our ‘five a day’ in, with residents making some lovely healthy, fruity concoctions!

We also spent time doing some colouring on the “big iPad”, which is always a hit, especially with all the “cheeky wee faces” on the animal drawings that never fail to get a smile

A simple but lovely day filled with creativity, conversation and good company.

A Fun and Proud Day Here at Meadowvale!

We had a lovely day full of smiles and Scottish pride. Many of our residents were delighted to hear that Scotland has qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 27 years and they loved watching the highlights from yesterday’s big match! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We kicked off the morning with a few rounds of Higher or Lower to get everyone’s minds warmed up! This was followed by listening to some Scottish classics while playing along with our percussion instruments. Everything from Midge Ure to Runrig, and of course Andy Cameron’s ‘Ally’s Tartan Army’! 🎶

This afternoon was filled with quality 1-to-1 time. Some residents tackled a quiz all about creepy crawlies, with our resident “brain box” scoring an impressive 18/20. Others enjoyed reminiscing about what the World Cup/Football was like during their youth.⚽️

We also had plenty of pampering today. Our fantastic hairdresser worked her magic with some fresh new looks, and our activities team treated residents to relaxing hand massages and nail painting. 💆‍♀️

A great mix of music, memories, and laughter here at Meadowvale!

Brrr. Awful weather but that didn’t stop us having a , if you pardon the pun, a chilled day. Our residents started off with gentle exercises, followed by catching up the latest events on the telly,

Later one of residents chose to get her stack of wool unravelled for the knitting club. Other residents chose 1 2 1’s in the privacy of their rooms to chat about football and reminisce about music of the 70’s.

A Bit of Variety Here at Meadowvale Today

It’s been a busy and cheerful day overall. Our upstairs lounge is getting a fresh new look thanks to our in-house handyman, and it’s already giving the space a lovely contemporary feel. We’re sure our residents will approve once it’s all finished! ✨

We started the morning with some target games, bean bag toss to knock down the cups, followed by a few rounds on the point-scoring floor mat. Lots of smiles and plenty of healthy competition.

With the sun making a rare appearance, we wrapped up warm and headed out for a stroll to the park. It was a bit chilly, but a hot cuppa and a slice of cake soon sorted that out.

We also had a visit from our little four-legged diva, Dolly, who happily greeted residents while they were getting their hair done by our talented stylist. 💆

Lunch Club in the conservatory was as popular as ever, with residents enjoying their meal while watching the dog walkers and general goings-on in the park.

Throughout the day we had plenty of one-to-one sessions. Some residents had their nails done, others enjoyed a good chat, and we brought some of the target games into some of the residents personal living areas so everyone could join in. One of our clever residents completed a World War II quiz and achieved a perfect 15/15, beating their previous score of 13/15. 💯

Another full and happy day at Meadowvale.

Despite the cooler weather outside our residents cosied up for Sunday lunch as part of our lunch club enjoying the views and having a blether.

In the afternoon we had our karaoke with residents and staff enjoying the fun. Another resident had a lovely stroll in the park with a relative.

This evening some of our residents enjoyed a mini pamper session by having their nails done. 💅

A relaxing day had by all.

On another note, thank you for donations received so far for our Christmas Fayre which will be held on 6 December as well as our Santa Grotto. Any donations for the Christmas Fayre will be gratefully received.

A Peaceful Couple of Days at Meadowvale

We’ve had a calm and cosy few days (yesterday and today) here, making the most of things even with the wild weather outside. Our Lunch Club in the conservatory has been a favourite. The residents love a wee nosey outside, seeing all the action - particularly the committed dog walkers braving it in the rain. Today we even turned it into a little Men’s lunch Club, which the gents enjoyed.

We managed a few local walks too, although yesterday’s was cut short when the sun making a fast exit, only to grant us some lovely wind and rain. This morning we kept spirits high with some cup and ping-pong games, which always help with confidence and dexterity.

Over both days we’ve had lots of meaningful 1-2-1 time. Some residents got their nails done, others enjoyed a chat or a quiz, with one scoring an impressive 13/15 on a Scottish football quiz.

Simple moments, warm company, and plenty of smiles!

Making Dreams Come True, One Step at a Time 💫

We’ve been getting creative here at Meadowvale! Some of our residents rolled up their sleeves this afternoon to design a bright and eye-catching banner for our 500-Mile Walking Challenge in aid of Make-A-Wish UK It’s already adding a lovely splash of colour to our home, and it’s inspiring everyone to keep stepping toward our goal! 👟

Earlier in the day, our Lunch Club met in the conservatory, where residents enjoyed good food, peaceful conversation, and the relaxing view, the perfect setting for a cosy midday catch-up.

Throughout the day, we also enjoyed some one-to-one time. Some residents treated themselves with freshly painted nails, while others opted for a friendly chat over a comforting cuppa ☕.

Finally, a big thank you to everyone who has already supported our 500-Mile Challenge, every step and every penny helps us make dreams come true. ✨

If you’d like to support our efforts, donations can be made via our sponsor sheet at reception, or online through our JustGiving page linked below. Remember dreams come in all different sizes, and every bit of support makes a difference.

We started off the day with getting our circulation moving as we exercised to line dancing which had our residents chuckling among themselves. 🕺

We then had our lunch club now a firm faviourite with our residents and as a result is now being extended to evening dinner. 🥙🥗

And of course not forgetting our gorgeous ladies getting dolled up and showing off their styles, done by our amazing in-house stylist.

Later in the afternoon we had our fabulous staff entertaining residents by singing on the Karaoke 🎤 Our residents cheered and clapped in support of the singers.

Another fine day at Meadowvale.

It might have been a bit of a dreich day outside, but that didn’t stop us from making the most of it here at Meadowvale. 🌧️

Since we couldn’t head out on our local walks, many of our residents spent the morning working through their Remembrance Day activity booklets, filled with poems, crosswords, and colouring pages. It was a lovely, peaceful way to start the day and reflect on the meaning of armistice day.

This afternoon, we gathered for our Lunch Club down in the conservatory. Everyone was glad to be warm and cosy indoors while the rain poured outside. The food, the chatter, and the view made it the perfect midday break. 👨‍🍳

We also had some one-to-one time with our residents. One of our clever residents scored an impressive 13.5 out of 15 on their British history quiz! Others got stuck into balloon ball games with the paddles, while some were happy with a bit of company and a nice chat!

Later on, our arts and crafts group got creative making a banner for our Make-a-Wish donations pot. Every bit of effort helps towards our 500-mile walk challenge, and donations can be made at our reception or online using the link below. Every contribution makes a real difference for a wonderful cause. ✨

To round off the day, some of our lovely ladies treated themselves to a bit of pampering with fresh nails!
