Best to see a podiatrist first as we are the experts in ingrown nails and can prevent a trip to the GP or a strain on our accident and emergency services. 👣

NHS England reported 3,890 ingrown toenails presented at A&E last winter. Podiatrists are the experts in foot and lower limb care and can provide specialist care for ingrown nails, including minor surgery to resolve them. Check with your local NHS for podiatry access criteria or find your nearest private podiatrist at https://rcpod.org.uk/find-a-podiatrist and save A&E for the critical care.

What is best for my dry skin? A common question from patients.

Dry skin (xerosis) is a frequent dermatological problem that increases in prevalence with age.

How often as podiatrists do we observe dry feet and scaly legs in our older patients particularly? Too often, probably. What ensues in the consultation is a discussion about their shower habits and emollient use to prevent the skin from drying out.
