An inspirational way to start the weekend!

Residents and teams Orchard House Care Home welcomed back Johnathan, a young fundraiser supporting the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, who shared his inspiring story in the home's newly refurbished cinema.

From walking 42 miles and raising over £3,000, to his latest challenge visiting RNLI stations along the coast, Johnathan continues to push himself to support an amazing cause

Next up… a full marathon walk of 26 miles—and residents and staff are getting involved too!
A big thank you to Johnathan for delivering such an engaging presentation.

Events like this truly reflect the importance of building strong community connections and supporting those within local communities; something that sits at the heart of daily life across our homes.

Park View Care Centrein Ashford has thoroughly enjoyed supporting Ashford United FC Official this season, sponsoring players Barry Fuller and Matt Bodkin.

With the club just minutes away, the partnership has been a fantastic way for everyone at the home to stay connected to the local community while enjoying a shared love of football. From tuning into weekly matches on YouTube to attending games in person, there’s been a real sense of involvement across the home.

Being part of the “Nuts & Bolts” community has brought plenty of matchday excitement, sparked conversations, and created shared experiences for everyone involved.

And today marks the final match of the season! Ashford United face Hassocks FC at The Green Box Stadium this afternoon—wishing the team the very best of luck!

It’s been a brilliant season to be part of, and there’s already plenty of anticipation for what next season will bring… come on you Nuts & Bolts!

Supporting residents to continue the passions and skills that matter to them is an important part of life across our homes.

Yesterday, a lovely moment at Queens Court Care Home in Buckhurst Hill saw Suzan step into the role of stylist—gently brushing the hair of residents and team members alike. What began as a simple activity quickly became something more, filled with conversation, connection, and shared smiles.

It’s these everyday moments that help maintain a sense of identity, purpose, and joy, reminding us how meaningful it is to keep doing the things we love.

This Global Intergenerational Week, RCH Care Homes is proud to recognise the lasting relationships built between residents and younger generations across the group.

From regular visits with local nurseries and schools, to collaborative initiatives such as reading schemes at Romford Care Home, the Feed Fenland project in partnership with Orchard House Care Home and Little Owls Nursery and supporting young people completing their Duke of Edinburgh Awards, these partnerships create shared experiences that benefit everyone involved.

At Queens Court Care Home, their participation in Davenant Foundation School’s Enrichment Programme where Sixth Form students visit weekly, contributing their time, creativity, and energy while gaining valuable life experience through meaningful engagement with residents.

Residents and team members at Orchard House Care Home have been spreading a little kindness across Wisbech—leaving handwritten notes and small gifts for members of the local community to find.

What started as a thoughtful idea quickly turned into something special.
People across the town have been sharing their experiences in local Facebook groups after discovering the unexpected surprises on their cars—with many saying it truly “brightened their day.”

Even Policing Fenland shared a post after one of their officers returned to find flowers and a note waiting.

For residents, it meant just as much:
✨ “Making myself feel happy was making someone else feel happy and smile.”
✨ “It’s good that it’s made someone happy and smile.”

It’s a lovely reminder of how small acts of kindness can travel far—and bring people together.

This comes as the team celebrates being named Team of the Year at the Fenland Citizen Business Awards—a fantastic achievement for everyone involved

Brentwood Care Centre recently shared Richard’s journey back to independence, made possible through his determination and the dedicated nursing and care teams who supported his rehabilitation. Richard is now looking forward to moving into his new home and returning to Brentwood Care Centre as a volunteer; giving back to the team who helped him regain his independence.
