Have you ever wanted to try journaling but didn’t know where to start?

During our FINDING CALM workshops, we talked about why journaling can be such a powerful tool — how it helps clear your mind, manage worries, and make sense of your thoughts and feelings. We explored what to write, how to begin, and how journaling can fit into everyday life without feeling like homework.

Journaling is an incredible tool that allows you to express your thoughts and emotions freely. It helps clear your mind, release stress, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. It’s your private space to be real, without judgment.

Here are the three key things we found most helpful when starting a journaling practice:

How to Get Started:

1.Find a quiet, comfortable space where you can focus without distractions.

2.Grab a notebook or journal that resonates with you—The Yin Tribe Journals are perfect for this, with their unique weekly and monthly check-in prompts designed to help you reflect and grow.

3.Set aside dedicated time each day to write.

What to Write About: WHAT GIVES ME JOY ?

Big things or small things — what made you smile recently? It could be a favourite place or person, lists are great - start with one thought and let the others gently come to mind!

Let the words flow without overthinking. This is your space to be authentic and open.

Benefits of Journaling:

- Gain clarity and perspective on your emotions.
- Release stress and anxiety by expressing your feelings.
- Improve self-awareness and enhance self-expression.

Affirmations are small but powerful tools to shape your mindset. Saying positive statements daily can boost confidence, reduce stress, and help you focus on what really matters.

Try starting or ending your day with one simple affirmation said quietly, written down, or reflected on and notice how small shifts in language can lead to meaningful changes in how you feel.

*** LAST REMAIN|ING PLACES ***

At Theatre Studio, we place immense importance on our students’ mental health and wellbeing. We actively strive to ensure that every tutor nurtures and supports students in a positive, compassionate, and empowering environment, helping young people grow not only as performers, but as confident individuals.
We are delighted to share that we are collaborating with The Yin Tribe to offer a series of very special wellbeing workshops, led by Theatre Studio’s own Suzy Segura and Meg Travers. These workshops are designed to support young people emotionally and mentally, and we are pleased to open them to both Theatre Studio and non–Theatre Studio students. We believe we all share a duty of care to help young people feel supported, understood, and confident as they grow into adulthood.

Welcome to The Yin Tribe: A Sanctuary for Young Minds

Life can often feel overwhelming, especially for young people navigating the pressures of school, exams, friendships, social media, and the lingering effects of the pandemic. The Yin Tribe, founded by Theatre Studio’s Artistic Director, Suzanna Segura, offers a space to relax, rest, and reset.

Designed for young people aged 11 to 21 (we also offer classes to adults), this class is for anyone struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, or simply feeling burnt out. It’s also a welcoming space for those who just need an hour of deep rest and relaxation—a moment to step away from the noise and reconnect with themselves.

Step into Stillness

RELAX – Sink into a peaceful, candlelit space, away from the demands of daily life.
REST – Soothe your nervous system with calming breathwork and ambient sounds.
RESET – Allow yourself to fully let go, releasing tension and restoring balance.

What is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga is a deeply meditative and grounding practice, where postures (asanas) are held for several minutes, allowing the body to soften and release. Unlike more dynamic styles of yoga, Yin invites you to surrender into stillness, encouraging deep rest and inner awareness.

For young people, this practice can be truly transformational. It provides a space to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect—offering balance in a world that often feels too fast and too loud.

Why Join The Yin Tribe?
Reduces stress and anxiety – Calms the mind, slows the breath, and soothes the nervous system.
Brings balance – Encourages emotional resilience and inner peace.

Enhances focus and clarity – Helps to quiet mental chatter and improve concentration.

Creates a sacred pause – A chance to unplug from the outside world and reset from within.

Uplifts and restores – Fosters a sense of ease, positivity, and self-compassion.

In a world that constantly demands more from us, The Yin Tribe is a reminder that rest is not a luxury... it’s essential.

Are you ready to find your inner calm?
Join us for weekly classes and experience the power of stillness, surrender, and deep release.

Christmas can be amazing… but it can also feel a bit overwhelming.

Here are three simple ways to keep your head clear and your mood steady over the festive season:

1. Take quiet time without guilt.
It’s okay to step away from noise, socials, and screens. Even 10 minutes alone lying down, stretching, or listening to music can reset your nervous system.

2. Breathe before you react
If emotions spike, pause and take 5 slow breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth. It sounds simple, but it genuinely helps calm anxiety and stops overwhelm taking over.

3. Lower the pressure
You don’t have to be happy, busy, or “festive” all the time. Christmas is just a season — not a test. Be kind to yourself and let things be “good enough.”

Your feelings are valid. You’re not alone. Take it one breath at a time.

The Calling ...... Yin Tribe

The Yin Tribe's Founder, Suzy Segura, came to her mat over 10 years ago. From running a successful Theatre School for over 10 years, whilst maintaining a busy home life, she walked into The Yoga Studio, Cheltenham Pilates & Yoga when her daughter's friends waved at her, whilst waiting for his children yoga class to start. Her daughter joined in the lesson and whilst waiting she noticed how peaceful and quiet the studio was, the powerful sense of calm and well-being, and being nosey she decided to join in one of the adult lessons.

She became hooked, her once crowded, over thinking mind became calm and focussed during the class, and she always left with a feeling of positively and well-being - this was something that she was not used to !

After practising for another 8 years, a seed began to form in her mind, she felt she needed to expand and take the next step forward in her 'yogi life'. It was like a calling, a vocation, something that deep inside her soul told her to do.

"High on the air there is a calling
