Can I ask you something?
Have you ever said to yourself or heard someone you love say
"I've tried so many times. Maybe this is just who I am"?
That sentence. That defeated little sentence.
Here's what I want you to know.
Nobody is born a smoker.
Nobody is born an addict or a drinker.
That behaviour was learned through stress, circumstances, time, and a brain that was simply trying to help.
It found something that worked, for a while, and made it automatic.
But what was learned can also be unlearned.
Not through willpower.
Not through trying harder or wanting it more.
But by going to the level where the habit actually lives in the unconscious mind and making a different decision there.
I've written a new blog about exactly this, using the most unlikely of guides, Alice in Wonderland.
Because Alice understood something about identity that I come back to again and again in my work.
"It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then."
Yesterday's version of you, the one defined by the habit, doesn't have to come into today.
Today you are already someone different.
If this speaks to you, or to someone you love, the full blog is on my website. Link in the comments.
And if you'd like a conversation, no pressure, no obligation, I offer a free 45-minute consultation.
Just a chat. 🍵
