👋 Meet Matthew Llewelyn – our 'people person' 💙

At Safehands Care, it’s not just about providing care - it’s about finding the right people to deliver it. And that’s where Matthew comes in.

With a background in healthcare recruitment and support, he’s well-versed in bringing together compassionate carers with the individuals who need them most.

Like many of our lovely team, Matthew’s journey in care began in a hands-on role.

His first role was to support individuals with challenging behaviours and he later stepped up into a Team Leader role helping individuals with complex care needs.

During this time he fell in love with the care industry - a passion that has led him into healthcare recruitment, where he now plays a key role in building our incredible team. 👋

As a testament to his work ethic and abilities, Matthew recently won a company award for Taking Responsibility - one of our Core Values. He won this as he ensures our care packages are staffed consistently - and he always makes sure that the right carers are matched with each individual we care for.

He is a valued colleague and always happy to help.

When he’s not at work, Matthew is at home looking after his two beloved cats, Lucifer and Bruce 🐱😺 and we enjoy regular photo updates of what they have been up to!

👋 Meet the Team: Colin Dicks - Our Registered Manager! 💙

At Safehands Care, we believe that great care starts with great leadership - and Colin is at the heart of it.

As our Registered Manager, Colin brings over 30 years of experience in the care sector, having worked his way from Support Worker to Operations Manager. His hands-on experience means he truly understands what it takes to deliver outstanding, person-centred care.

Colin is passionate about upholding the highest standards, and his leadership has consistently led to top CQC ratings in areas like Well-Led and Responsive.

He’s dedicated to ensuring that every individual receives the quality care they deserve.

Outside of work, Colin is just as committed to his community! 🏉 He’s been part of Whitehall RFC since he was 11, serving as a Junior Coach for 17 years, currently coaching an energetic group of U7 girls and boys.

We’re so lucky to have Colin leading the way at Safehands Care! 💙

💫 We were delighted to attend the National Star College last month to chat with students and their loved ones about what we do! 💫

👨🏻 From the age of 25, students who are moving on from National Star College and transitioning into new locations can be supported by us.

😊 We help individuals create and maintain a life after college based on their wishes, preferences, strengths and abilities, so they are free to be themselves.

📄 Alongside this, we also help with navigating the complexities of local authority systems, housing, grant applications and funding to make the transition as smooth as possible.

📣 Katie Armstrong even gave a presentation with some familiar faces, which was very well received!

It's Mental Health Awareness Week from 13th to 17th May 2024.

To get people talking, we offer a half-day Mental Health Awareness training course to businesses, which covers the following:

🧠 What mental health is

🧠 Signs and symptoms of poor mental health

🧠 How to recognise common situations which relate to mental health

🧠 How to disclose to management or colleagues how you are feeling

🧠 How to support someone who has disclosed that they need help

🧠 How to deal with the death of a family member or friend

By the end of the session, attendees will be able to support each other, understanding that everyone has off days. They will be equipped to lend a listening ear and signpost to services that can help.

We are delighted to announce and welcome Matthew as the newest addition to our team! 🎉

Matthew has extensive experience recruiting and supporting both clients and candidates for the healthcare industry. 🫴Having previously worked within care settings, supporting the day-to-day activities of challenging behaviour and later supporting residents on a more complex care level as a Team Leader within a care home environment, Matthew fell in love with the care industry. This love for supporting others propelled him in a new direction, later discovered a new challenge within the healthcare recruitment sector and has been enjoying it ever since!
