Caroline Whittome Soft Tissue Therapy

Caroline Whittome Soft Tissue Therapy The benefit I felt was so profound I knew I wanted to give back and help others and decided to retrain and become a soft tissue therapist.

I am a Level 5 Diploma qualified Remedial Soft Tissue Massage Therapist rebalancing clients musculoskeletal systems via Sports Massage, KTape, Dry Needling, Oncology Massage, Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, CST and The Perrin Technique for M.E/CFS In my personal life I am very active with my family and have played hockey at county level and enjoy triathlons, climbing, yoga, gardening and walking our two dogs Bramble and Cosmo. My ability to keep enjoying an active lifestyle was affected following both sport and car accident injuries where I suffered from ruptured muscles, whiplash and hip displacement. After receiving treatment from both chiropractors and soft tissue therapists I am thankfully able to sleep again without pain and have returned to full mobility. After searching for remedial massage therapy courses I was stunned and alarmed to see that many ran over just 1 weekend and that people could then say they were a qualified therapist. Having studied A' Level Biology I knew that a weekend course simply couldn't give enough depth and understanding in both theoretical and practical applications. I then discovered the highly respected Oxford School of Sport Massage (OSSM) and, after a year of studying anatomy & physiology as well as advanced practical soft tissue therapies, I qualified with a BTEC Level 5 Professional Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy. The Diploma has given me the skills I need to help others towards a pain free, mobile and active life, I find this incredibly rewarding. Every year through my Continued Professional Development I deepen my existing knowledge as well as learning and qualifying in new skills such as Dry Needling, Kinesiology Taping and Oncology Massage Therapy and most recently Fluoroscopy Guided Manual Lymphatic Drainage. I am a registered member of the Institue for Soft Tissue Therapists (ISRM), Sports Massage Association (SMA), Manual Lymphatic Drainage UK (MLD-UK), British Lymphology Society (BLS) and the Complementary & the Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). The CNHC is the holder of a Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA) Accredited Register. The PSA is a body accountable to Parliament.

My soul aim is to help resolve mobility issues and alleviate discomfort and pain felt by clients. There are 3 stages to the work I do with my clients:

1) Understand what has caused the need for remedial treatment by a detailed assessment of both your history and current physical condition. I will assess your posture, your joints and range of movement to determine a treatment plan and which technique(s) will work best for you.

2) Restore balance within your musculoskeletal systems through the sports and remedial massage therapies that are most suited for you, and

3) Empower you to maintain this new balance through a programme of stretching and strengthening exercises you can do at home or work to compliment the treatment you receive from me. If you have any questions or would like help in help restoring musculoskeletal balance and harmony in your life please get in touch via info@carolinewhittome.com or 01451 822 798

Best wishes,

Caroline

As most of you know I am hopeless at posting regularly on social media. However I wanted to let you know I am currently enjoying participating in my first Zero Balancing course.

Zero Balancing, as as explained on https://zerobalancinguk.org/about-zero-balancing/
by Zero Balancing teacher Judith Sullivan,
works with the bones and joints, and with the energy that flows through them. We pay particular attention to those joints in the body that balance posture and movement. These joints naturally have a small range of motion, so when they become compromised the body has few options to resolve the restriction, compensating elsewhere. For example, an imbalance in the bones of the foot might present as pain and discomfort in the knee or hip. Zero Balancing directly addresses these joint imbalances, recognising that small changes in the function of key joints will produce a significant improvement in body ease and alignment.

I have been fortunate to have received Zero Balancing treatment for acute bank pain, after 4 appointments my back pain dissipated and I have remained free from pain since. It’s incredibly gentle, nurturing and deeply respectful modality.

I am loving learning more about it and look forward in the months and years ahead to becoming a licensed ZB practitioner.

Also in June 2025 I will be taking my CST2 course, my second course in CranioSacral therapy, another very gentle and respectful modality. Never underestimate how powerful gentle therapeutic touch can be and how healing and grounding it is in this super busy world we live in. My belief is that this gentle approach, working with the body in trust is the most beneficial and rewarding way forward, working with a clients structure and soft tissue in a kind way. The results I see, the results my clients feel reinforce this on a weekly basis. It’s an absolute privilege and honour to help, nurture and support my clients.

So, what is Zero Balancing? Zero Balancing is a gentle yet powerful method of balancing body energy with body structure using skilled touch. It was developed by an American Osteopathic Physician, Dr Fritz Frederick Smith MD.

I am hugely proud of the work I do, I love helping and caring for others. This year I qualified as a Licenced Perrin Technique Practitioner helping those suffering from CFS/ME/ Fibromyalgia and Long Covid.

I have a few clients following The Perrin Technique and I have finally got round to updating my website with regards to this. Please have a read and share if you know anyone suffering from CFS/ME/ Fibromyalgia and Long Covid.

People can find further information on The Perrin Technique FB page or website.

The work is immensely rewarding seeing the grip of CFS/ME/ Fibromyalgia and Long Covid loosen its grip.

I’m too late in my knowledge to have helped Evon Carter but I’ll never stop working to help and support others suffering as she did. My long term goal is to set up a charity called Sparkletastic in Evon’s memory so those who can’t afford private healthcare can still get the help and support they need and don’t disappear into the “Missing Millions”

Very proud to say after a lot of studying and an intense 4 days lectures and practical workshops I have now completed my CST1 (Craniosacral therapy 1) course.

Now the journey to solidify my learning starts before doing my CST2 either later this year or next 2025.

Huge respect for all the CST therapists out there as they have an incredible understanding of anatomy and physiology and their palpatory sensitivity and skills are immense.
