Dental Myth: You don't need to brush baby teeth because they're just going to fall out anyway.

This is a common misconception we often hear, but it's really important to debunk! At Arden House Dental, we stress that baby teeth are crucial for a child's oral development. While they do eventually fall out, they play vital roles in speech development, proper chewing, and holding space for the permanent teeth to erupt correctly. If baby teeth are lost too early due to decay, it can lead to crowding and alignment issues for the adult teeth.

So, start brushing those tiny teeth as soon as they appear, and make dental care a family priority from day one!

Fact: While it's common practice, rinsing with water immediately after brushing can wash away the fluoride from your toothpaste, reducing its effectiveness in strengthening enamel and preventing cavities. It's better to spit out excess toothpaste and avoid rinsing, or rinse with a fluoride mouthwash later.

Myth: Brushing Harder Cleans Better!

The Fact: Gentle, thorough brushing is far more effective and much safer for your teeth and gums. Think of it as massaging your teeth and gums, not scrubbing them!

At Arden House Dental, we often recommend using an electric toothbrush because they are designed to do the hard work for you. Many models come with built-in pressure sensors to prevent you from brushing too hard, and their oscillating or sonic movements can achieve a superior clean with minimal effort. This makes it easier to clean effectively without risking damage to your enamel or gums.
