💙 At the end of last week, some of our team attended an informative workshop hosted by GID Gloucestershire Independent Dentists.

The session led by Dr Mahrukh Khwaja from Mind Ninja, focused on the science of wellbeing and how to truly flourish in dentistry.

We explored the psychology of peak performance, emotional awareness, resilience and practical mindfulness tools, helping us build on our strengths and create a mindset that supports both personal wellbeing and exceptional patient care. 🤩

It’s that time of year again when everyone is choosing one key thing to give up for Lent.

We asked Nina Stanford, one of our hygienists, what she’s planning on giving up this year to better her oral health, and her answer might shock you. 👀🪥

🥞 Shrove Tuesday is the perfect time for pancakes - but instead of reaching for sugary syrups, why not choose toppings that are kinder to your health and your smile? Fresh berries, banana slices, Greek yogurt, nut butters, or even a light drizzle of honey can add flavour without the sugar overload. 🍓🍌

At Arden House, we’re all about helping you enjoy life’s little moments - like Pancake Day -while protecting your dental health. Reducing sugar in your diet is one of the simplest ways to safeguard your teeth from decay and sensitivity. If you’re unsure which foods are best for your smile or want personalised advice on nutrition and oral care, our team is here to help.

Let us know in the comments what YOUR favourite topping is 😋

🦷 Thinking about whitening your teeth? It’s worth knowing that many online whitening kits aren’t as safe or as effective as they claim.

Research by Which? found that almost 60% of whitening products bought online contained illegal or unsafe levels of bleaching agents, while others contained no active ingredient at all. Used incorrectly, hydrogen peroxide can damage enamel and burn the gums, and low-strength shop-bought kits often won’t deliver noticeable results.

Professional whitening, carried out under dental supervision, is a safe and effective way to achieve a brighter, more youthful smile. Our team can advise whether whitening is right for you and help you choose the best option for your smile.

If you’re considering whitening, let us help you do it safely and effectively. Get in touch - https://www.ardenhouse.co.uk/dental-at-arden-house/cosmetic-dentistry/teeth-whitening/

Got a date this Valentine’s Day? Fresh breath should be top of the checklist. ❤️‍🔥

If bad breath is on your mind before a date, it’s usually caused by bacteria build-up in plaque, the soft film that naturally forms on teeth and gums, which, over time, can lead to unwanted odours.

The most effective way to tackle bad breath long-term is diligent oral hygiene. Brushing twice a day is essential, but cleaning between the teeth is just as important, as this is where bacteria often hide.

For a quick refresh, especially after meals, mouthwash or sugar-free gum can help remove debris and rebalance the mouth’s pH, offering short-term support while good habits do the long-term work.

If you’d like help refining your routine or have concerns your mouth isn't as fresh as it could be, our team can help boost your confidence, call us on 01242 512444 or visit our website here - https://www.ardenhouse.co.uk/

Kiss with confidence this Valentine’s Day. 💋🦷

Your daily habits play a bigger role in tooth staining than many people realise, and understanding the causes can help you protect both your smile and your enamel. 🦷

Common culprits include smoking, coffee, tea, red wine and strongly pigmented foods. While these are hard to avoid completely, how you manage them can make a real difference to the appearance and health of your smile.

One of the most effective ways to lift surface staining is an Airflow treatment with our hygienists. This gentle, non-abrasive technique removes stains using air, water and fine powder, without damaging the enamel or soft tissues.

It’s also worth being mindful of “stain-removing” or "whitening" toothpastes. Many are abrasive and, when used regularly, can gradually wear away enamel rather than protect it.

Maintaining regular hygiene appointments, drinking water alongside caffeinated drinks and avoiding smoking all help reduce staining and support long-term oral health.

If you’d like to find out more about Airflow hygiene treatment or book an appointment, our team would be happy to help:

Today is World Cancer Day, and we wanted to take a moment to highlight the importance of recognising the symptoms of oral cancer.

As dentists, we’re often the first to spot changes in the mouth that patients may not notice themselves. That’s why awareness and regular dental check-ups are so important. Checking for oral cancer is part of every check-up and new patient consult we perform.

Our Dentist, Katherine Weatherly, outlines some of the key signs to spot. 👇

You can feel reassured knowing that oral cancer screening is a routine part of every check-up and new patient consultation. We’re also happy to talk through individual risk factors, including smoking, alcohol consumption and herpes.
