Traditional acupuncture is a healthcare system based on ancient principles which go back nearly two thousand years. It sees pain and illness as signs that the body is out of balance - the aim of acupuncture treatment, then, is to restore the body's equilibrium. After being introduced to Traditional Acupuncture over 15 years ago, I quickly became fascinated with its theory and tradition – with the

simplicity of Yin/Yang and Five Element concepts, and with the thousand-year history of an effective drug-free medicine. I qualified as an acupuncturist in 2010 with a First Class Honours degree from the College of Traditional Acupuncture in Warwick, and I am a registered member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC). "These results suggest that acupuncture not only improves sleep quality but also lowers blood pressure in patients suffering from hypertension and insomnia"

Our analysis included 16 RCTs, comprising 1,309 patients. The findings revealed that acupuncture was significantly more effective than the control group in reducing insomnia symptoms, as indicated by a greater decrease in the PSQI score (MD = -3.1, 95% CI [-3.77 to -2.62], p < 0.00001). Ad...

Clinical guidelines provide recommendations to healthcare professionals regarding the different options for a particular condition.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and The Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) produce clinical guidelines in the UK.

A systematic review is conducted to gather all the evidence. Clinical guidelines will often base their recommendations not just on whether a therapy is effective but also on a cost-benefit analysis.

Acupuncture is currently included in the following clinical guidelines:
▫️ Headaches in over 12s: diagnosis and management (NICE CG150)
▫️ Chronic pain (primary and secondary) in over 16s (NICE CG193)
▫️ Chronic pain (SIGN 136) management for lower back pain and osteoarthritis

ACUPUNCTURE FOR ENDOMETRIOSIS 👇🏻

"Acupuncture treatment for endometriosis demonstrated clinically relevant improvements in pelvic pain and should be considered as a potential treatment intervention"

March is Endometriosis Action Month hosted by .uk

It is reported that Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth in the UK.

A recent systematic review and meta-analysis by Geise et al concluded acupuncture treatment for endometriosis demonstrated clinically relevant improvements in pelvic pain and should be considered as a potential treatment intervention [1].

The British Acupuncture Council's practitioner register is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. PSA accreditation means our members are highly trained, and GP referrals for acupuncture treatment might be possible.

If you're living with symptoms of Endometriosis - reach out to a BAcC registered practitioner for more information using the practitioner search tool on our website.

The focus of classical acupuncture in winter, is to support and nourish our core energy in preparation for the coming spring. Often, as in nature, the activity is beneath the surface, hidden, so can be the response to treatment. As the rising spring energy emerges from the winter stillness, the benefits of the winter acupuncture will blossom.

For a number of lifestyle and environmental reasons, our qi (the body’s vital energy) can become disturbed, depleted or blocked, which can result in symptoms of pain, illness or disease. Traditional acupuncture can be an effective therapy to help restore balance and promote physical and emotional harmony. Acupuncture appointments are available Monday - Friday with one of our two Acupuncturists Eric Goodchild and Ric Malkinson.
