🔍 Residents and staff got together for a game of Who Am I? - always a favourite, and never short of laughter.

🐤 The little ones from Berkhampstead Day Nursery popped in, and the chicks were a big hit. The children bring such energy and joy - you can see it light up the whole room.

🧩 A Scrabble afternoon full of friendly competition, good conversation and plenty of laughs between residents who’ve got to know each other well.

☕ A morning out at Webbs Garden Centre - a good catch-up over coffee and a gentle wander in the spring sunshine.

That’s what every day here is built around - the activities, the outings, the small gestures and the big ones.

A truly heartwarming afternoon of music, laughter and connection here at Oakhaven Residential Care Home 🎶💛

We were delighted to welcome Sophie from Gloucestershire Academy of Music, as part of the inspiring Stand By Me intergenerational project. The room was filled with smiles, singing voices, and even a wonderful ukulele performance from one of our talented residents!

This special initiative, funded by the GSW Music Hub and The National Lottery, brings together our residents and pupils from Holy Apostles Primary School, creating meaningful moments through the shared joy of music.

These sessions do so much more than entertain - they build confidence, spark communication, and nurture genuine relationships across generations. It’s a beautiful reminder of how powerful music can be in bringing people together.

Moments like these truly reflect life at Oakhaven - full of warmth, friendship and shared experiences.

Spring is in the air at Oakhaven Residential Care Home. 🌸 🌼

We’ve been busy adding a touch of seasonal colour to our dining room and lounges with some beautiful flower arranging.

It was a lovely activity, bringing everyone together to create something bright, fresh and full of life.

There’s nothing quite like fresh flowers to lift the mood and welcome the new season – and our home is now blooming with cheerful spring displays for everyone to enjoy.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Kit for his work experience week - and what a week it was.

Kit expected a quiet environment - but what he discovered was something very different.

From lively conversations and shared stories, to creative activities and special visits (including a much-loved therapy dog and even a mobile zoo!).

Kit saw first-hand how life at Oakhaven Residential Care Home is full of energy, warmth and connection.

What did he notice the most? In his words:

Kit shared how much he valued simply sitting and talking - hearing incredible life stories, forming friendships, and seeing just how much life experience our residents carry with them.

He also got stuck into the behind-the-scenes side of care, discovering just how much teamwork, dedication and attention to detail goes into creating a safe, happy home.
