We’re in the season of the heart, the season of fire according to Seasonal Yoga, so how can you incorporate them into your day? 🔥❤️

Triple heater for transformation, peace, clarity and consistency

The other organ for Early Summer in Seasonal Yoga is the triple heater.  Don’t worry if you don’t remember it from biology lessons - it doesn’t have a physical form

Think of it as a connection (the theme for Early Summer again)
It moves breath, energy, food around the body to wherever needs it most.

Check out the meridian points ☝🏼 and think about moving and stretching the arms to support the meridian
Eagle arms
Wrist stretches
Threading the needle
Lateral neck stretches
Cow face arms
Or rub up and down the outer sides of the arm along the meridian lines

My favourite thing about yoga ☝🏼

Over the last weeks and months, I’ve been sharing the yamas and niyamas with you. When I trained to be a yoga teacher, I was coming at it mostly from a movement perspective.

I knew it felt great, and I wanted to share that with other people. But the asanas are really only a tiny part of yoga - only one of the eight limbs. The yamas and niyamas are another two limbs. We’re not even half way yet!

Yoga isn’t a thing you ‘do’, yoga is a thing that you live, it’s in everything.

My challenge to you then, is to ‘be more yoga’. Take your practice off your mat and into your life.

Take a yama every day, take a niyama. Set your intention.

Save this as a reminder to treat yourself and others with a little more care and compassion, even when you don’t feel like it!

One of the most popular and impactful things we talk about in our Seasonal Yoga training, are the yamas and niyamas 👆🏼

The first 2 of the 8 limbs of yoga 🪷

Guidelines for us all to live by, treat others and ourselves by.

Yamas = restraints

Niyamas = observances

In difficult times, good times, I lean into the philosophy of yoga as a comfort, as a hand to hold me.

Take a look at the yamas and niyamas, which speak to you?

Have you heard of it? ⬆️

The direct translation of yang sheng is ‘nourish life’

Nurture yourself, your health and your wellbeing everyday. Don’t wait for illness or burn out to make your health and wellbeing a priority.

It’s a self healing system - which means you know what you need, and for the most part it’s free.

It’s all those little day to day choices that accumulate. Those little practices that you can bring into your day that build up to create a bigger sense of change.

Breathwork
Yoga
Eating mindfully
Dancing
Nature
Less screen time
More rest

Think of it like brushing your teeth 🪥 Little daily habits that will keep you well

What little thing can you do today to nourish life? Let me know in the comments

Throwback to an amazing weekend with my Seasonal Yoga Teacher Training beauties! 👉🏼

We explored the liver and gallbladder, the organs linked to spring (yes, it's almost here!) and explored the concept of tensegrity. One of my incredible students even built a structure to bring it to life, more on that soon!

We’re moving through the last days of Winter, so now is a great time to take a moment and reflect on the season, Have you given yourself everything you needed?

Take a look at these questions👆🏼

They aren’t here to make you feel bad about yourself, or to add to your to do list. They are reminders that you need to prioritise yourself whenever you can.

There’s still time to make the space you need to prepare for the new energy (and fingers crossed more glorious sunshine) of Spring 🌸

Prioritise yourself.

Visualisation can be a great way to focus and clear the mind without the pressure of having to empty it completely.

It’s also a beautiful way to reconnect with cherished memories, places or people if you’re missing them.

Choose your subject to visualise, remember feelings or associations connected to it, and let the image of it form in your mind.

If you’re not sure where to start, try thinking of some symbols that make you feel good, in whatever way speaks to you. Something like…

🗻A snow capped mountain
🕯️A candle flame
🕊️Birds flying at sunset
🌅Dawn surrounded by nature
🌊The sea
🚣‍♀️A lake

Keep the image in your mind, but allow your emotions to move as they need to.

Try it and let me know if it resonates with you.

We’re learning lots of techniques like this, meditation, pranayama as well as asana on the Seasonal Yoga YTT 🥰
